Default Any way to lift wipers?

I did car wash today and found that no simple way to free windshiled from wipers. It is simple operation for other cars, but not for LS. Is there any trick?

I usually just put the car into the ON mode, turn the wipers on, and press the button to shut it off when the arms are half way up on the windshield.

But if there is a trick, I am interested as well

You are correct. There is not other way.

BTW, if you leave your wipers in the auto position be sure to turn this feature off before going through a car wash. I don't use car washes out of concern about damage to the finish but if you do then remember to turn the auto off before the wash.

I say this with some hesitation because I don't know if it also holds true for the LS but on the 3GS when the ignition is off if you force the wiper up in the normal direction of travel (ie when wiping) it kind of pops into an intentional "winter position" to make it easier to clean and it allows you to lift the blades off the windscreen. When you're done you just pop them back down and you're set.

lucasb7,
I think you may be correct, at least I dimly remember a thread on this forum about this. I think the poster was trying to get the courage up to give the wipers a "good firm" pull. Anyone else?

No< it's evident when it makes contact with the rear lip of your hood.............

On the 3GS that procedure is in the manual. I don't recall any such instruction on the LS. I would not try it on the LS. Just turn on the wiper and stop it midway.

Not quite. The idea is to pull the wiper blade along the plane it normally uses when in operation. In some cars (e.g. apparently the 3GS) the wiper moves up a notch to where it can then be moved away from the windscreen without making contact with the rear lip of the hood.

Yes - it’s not in the LS manual so unless someone else has found it can be done without damage I agree. Don’t try to pull it, just stop the wiper mid way.
