Fog light Mod..... (finally)
1st an foremost if u do not have a full understanding of electrical circuits and relays or aren't comfortable working with electricity DO NOT ATTEMPT you could seriously harm yourself or your vehicle... (i'm not responsible for ANY damage) also because its been over a yr since it was done i dont remember the exact wire colors (if your testing wires USE A MULTIMETER not a test light)
ok so after numerous pm's an tons of requests i'll give u a quick run down on how i did the foglight rewire (no time for pics sorry the whole car has to come apart) ie: the steering column, center console, the drivers side underdash panels as well as under hood panels, fender liners..
most think they are connected to the parking lights..
there not tied into the parking lights at all.. theyre actually tied straight to the ignition (thru the cig lighter fuse) i use them as my daytime running lights.. i put the parking lights on for effect... (in the Vossen thread pics)
the way its wired is: i tied a wire(diode isolated) straight to the foglight switch on the column (for neg trigger) then to a relay( an pos for the relay comes from cig) thru a separate toggle switch under the dash (hidden) i did it this way so if the switch under the dash is off i'm running it just like factory..(but the factory switch on the stalk still works in either set up) the relay under the dash goes to 2 more relays (1 at each fog ballast adapter input harness)those relays have a fused 25a lead from the car batt pos an grounded thru the underdash relay so when the under dash relay sends ground under the bumper the relays there open the oem circuit an send power from the battery to the ballasts turning on the fogs.. its a bit difficult but its the safest way to protect the oem electrical system
relay 1 (underdash) wiring config:
85-oem fog switch (diode) neg
86-cig lighter 12v pos
87-chassis ground
87a-n/c
30-output to under bumper relays
relays 2 & 3 under bumper
85- input from underdash relay neg
86-12v pos from batt (25a fused)
87-same as 86
87a-input from oem foglight (positive wire only)
30-output to foglight bulb (or hid ballast input ) positive only
i did the hid swap so the only wire that i cut was in the aftermarket harness between the oem foglight harness an the hid ballast (positive wire only)
i was working on a plug an play kit but who has the time nowadays

i told u it was involved... if it was easy everyone would have done it already...but to those that dont feel capable. take my directions to a local CUSTOM stereo shop, they should able to do it..np jus make sure they're comfortable workin on high end vehicles.. (AND HAVE GOOD INSURANCE) or are large enuff to afford any repairs if problems arise..

Clearly I saw this mod in person last week and it is awesome, especially with the HIDs....if I drive back down to Miami, I will stop by to ensure Shibumi1 does the install, he really knows his stuff when he explained everything in his car.
Give him a holla!
