Default Can auto down on rear sunshade be disabled?

As you know, the rear sunshade on the LS automatically goes down when the car is put into reverse. I can see this causing unneccessary wear on the motor, so I would rather disable the auto down portion if that's an option. I suspect it's like the goofy "I agree" button on the nav that finally went away with my update. I would be most appreciative if anyone could let me know if there is a settings anywhere to have the sunshade only go down if I want it to go down.

Its a safety issue. Lexus cant set it up for you but if you know a bad *** engineer like Henry (Rominl ) he could probably give you more info to see if its feasible

What Luxofreak said! But I admit i had the same concern of constant up and down movement my solution? Tint the back 20% and leave it down all the time except when it is intended to be used (for privacy). Or not tint and just leave it down until you need the shade.

I think if you use the switch near the gear shifter to put the sunshade down it will stay down. Try doing this when the car is in park or while driving. It works in one of those modes.

I go with tint the windows. 5% in the rear works great for me.

Keeping it down isn't the problem. Once you put it down, it always stays down. I keep all of the shades (side and back windows) closed, so every time I back out of the garage, the shade goes down automatically. Thanks for all the feedback. Just as I assumed, it looks like I'll have to rely upon Lexus' reliability. I have ZERO intention of keeping this car beyond the three years that it is under warranty, so I guess I'll just enjoy it and not worry about it.

That's one of the good reasons to own a Lexus.

If warranty expiring is your reason to sell the car... don't worry, these cars will outlast you, granted they are serviced as recommended. I bought mine brand new in 2007 and the cost of ownership of this car is so ridiculously low compared to others in its class, I couldn't be happier.

I rarely use mine since getting 15% tint. I so use it if my car will be parked all day along with my front shade I put up
