19" continental pro contact dws
I got an LS460 short wheel base. I swapped my 18" stock rims with Bridgestone Blizzaks with 19" Vossen CV1 and Continental Pro Contact DWS. The Blizzaks are snow tires and the DWS are all season. First thing I noticed was the ride quality worsened noticeably, especially with the horrible quality of Toronto roads. Is that a 19" vs. 18" factor? Secondly, The new wheel+tire setup is louder than my own setup with snow tires. Is this to be expected? Or do the new tires require break-in? They've been balanced and rotated. Thanks.

I have had the DWS in 22s, Pirellis in 22", and the 18" oem tires. There is a significant difference in road noise with the DWS. Its a harder compound tire because it has an insane tread wear rating. This can create a harsher ride with more noise. I think my Pirellis are quieter . Its the nature of the beast

I guess that's too bad, because reviews online say that the DWS is suppposed to be quiet, similar to the Michelin Primacy. I'll try a few hundred kms and see. Hopefully I can start to experience the tranquil Lexus quality ride again.

I have them on my GS300. I usually buy Michelins (they replaced Michelins) but they were so much less $$$ I decided to try them. IMO they are a great tire - quiet and do everything as well as the Michelins did.

The stock 18 inch Bridgestones on my 2010 AWD LS 460 short wheel base got REALLY noisy by 12,000 miles. By 20,000 I couldn't take it anymore and had to get rid of them though they may had about 10,000 left. I read all that I could find on the Continental DWS. Was concerned about the pulling to one side that some wrote of. Just got back a month ago from a 5000 mile trip including snow in West Yellowstone and heat in Phoenix. I couldn't be happier with the ride, traction, and quietness. No pulling whatsoever the whole time.
By the way, make sure you get 4 wheel alignment with new tires. I had Toyota do the work because they are so much less expensive than Lexus, and they found that ALL my wheels had been out of alignment to some degree.
As an aside, my Lexus dealer wanted $355 for the 15,000 mile 'inspection' in addition to the charge for the oil change, filters and rotation. Toyota did the 'inspection' part of the service...FREE. Guess where I have my routine service done now?

I may need to check out the local Toyota dealership for my oil changes and leave broken parts that are covered for Lexus and my warranty. After a recent very bad experience at Bell Lexus in AZ I am a little turned off with Lexus service right now. I know every dealership is different but still have a bad taste in my mouth from the idiots at Bell.
