Default Sunroof issue...

After washing the ride today...

I noticed that my sunroof gasket Has cracks all over the rubber gasket , I have had this car for about 3 weeks now and it's smokey granite mica ,,the cracks in the gasket stand out well on a dark car ..

Can I have this sunroof rubber gasket replaced under warranty ?

I fear that the roof might allow water inside since the gasket has cracks everywhere..

If its minor cracking then its probably ok but if its big enough to maybe let water in then I would take it to the dealership

Warranty or not, have it replaced. This isn't a beater you're driving.

Is there a product you can put on the Sun Roof Rubber to prevent cracking?

I experience the same thing, my car is out of warranty so all I can do is keep an eye on it.

Better be safe than sorry, never cheap out on integrity... if you need one source it then try to do it yourself or have a shop do it, dont necessarily need the dealer to do it.

Same here, after my car was under the hot TX sun for 3.5 years before I bought it. It was replaced under warranty late last year.

I know this is a old thread BUT........ I have some minor cracking on my 2012 LS CPO sun roof rubber, does anyone else have this happening on their LS and if so did the dealer replace it under warranty? The rubber has minor cracks all around and this condition only gets worse over time so needless to say I am concerned...... I will have this replaced warranty or not, I honestly do not think this rubber should crack at this age EVEN if it is exposed to the elements.

I have a 2008, Ohio car with only 35k. Sunroof gasket has cracked badly. Lexus says the whole sunroof cartridge will need to be replace to get a new gasket. Sucks. At least I know Im not the only one.

Did they give you price to replace it?
BTW! I have checked out other LS's in some parking lots and most of them have this "cracking rubber" problem.

My 08 does not seem to have this issue.

303 Aerospace Protectand with it's UV blockers would help here.

However, I seem to recall where a member here replaced just the gasket.

I took a close look at the gasket on my 07 today and though there isn't any cracking, I see a very, very small trace of material deterioration.
I will begin a treatment process this evening with warm, lightly soaped water, drying and Aero 303.

I'm having this ussue with my mighty Corolla. Once the water begins to ingress in these cracks, it drips where it ain't posa. And that does indeed lead to isues. There are no visible cracks in my Corolla's seal. Well one. And my containment procedure is broken. On rainy mornings like this morning, I get superfluous free cranial hydration on my way to work. So, yes ... get it fixed.

I'm going to spray that crap on it that is advertised on TV that they spray on the bottom of the boat and then paddle out onto a pond and show no leaking. I'll mask off everything else and spray that stuff on. Hey ... its a 12 year old car. i'm not putting any big money into it! Corse I did just fix the tranny.

Checked mines and its looks ok. Dealerships are expensive but a body shop may do the job for a lot less.
