History of my LS600lh
Overall this car is a 7/10, I will go further into detail in subsequent posts, but as of now I simply wish to post some details of the history and service records of my car starting with my most recent oil analysis
The car is currently somewhere at 41xxx miles and I have warranty until 100k miles. This car always goes to the Lexus dealer for service. They charge a premium but I personally feel the complexity of this car due to the hybrid system means the best experts are at the dealer. If it were not for the hybrid electronics I would get this car serviced at Motorwerks of Houston, where I go for all my other cars
I'll spend this evening typing up my service records and maint record for the car, perhaps others can start their own threads so we can see roughly what dealers are doing and charging for basic services. Remember, all the required service for your car is in the service guide at the end of the owners manual. For the most part you have minor oil changes every 5k, major every 15k,
You can find a link to a relatively recent services guide here
http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/LSh_WSG.pdf
The scheduled maint log starts at page 51. If you're forgetful, print those relevant pages out and stick them in your glove box. Every time maint is performed on the car have the mechanic sign off on the relevant page.

I noticed you put on new tires after 20K miles. Was there a problem with them? What were they? What did you replace them with?

Possibly vraa reported the incorrect oil viscosity to Blackstone Labs. Lets hope so, for his Factory Warranty.
His Lexus LS600 engine is to use 1 of either two viscosities of motor oil:
1) 0W-20
OR
2) 5W-20.
Since he has less than 45K miles of his Lexus LS600, it appears it is still covered by Factory Warranty. Of course, assuming he has not decided to use 5W-30 motor oil.
Butttttttttttt ......... Like always ......... Never let FACTS git in the way of any Good Story yu're tellin' !
LOL.
Bass are bitin' ....... gotta go.

For the most part it seems, oil is oil, adjust for your climate and driving patterns

And read what the manual tells you is the recommended oil viscosity by Lexus engineers.
Then I MIGHT take a trip to my Dealer and ask them why they choose to NOT follow Lexus specifications ? And what happens if there is an engine Warranty claim ?
Best Wishes to all, Mikey Lulejian - Arkansas, USA

5W-30 in COLD weather is wayyyyyyyyyyy too "thick" for the closer tolerances of the newer automobiles. That's why Lexus specifies EITHER 0W-20 or 5W-20 for our LS's. In much warmer weather, I prefer to utilize 5W-20, and so do many ELITE Lexus dealerships.
Also, please note that "Lexus synthetic" is a SYNTHETIC BLEND type of oil, which for all practical results is ESSENTIALLY the same as DINO oil !!!! You might ask you Lexus dealer to SHOW you an actual oil container and read what it says ..... OR go to the Parts Dept and tell them you wanna purchase an extra quart of oil. See what it says.
But in no case confuse these two items:
A) LEXUS CORP, and not dealers, approve Warranty engine claims !
B) The type of oil has NOTHING to do with utilizing the correct VISCOSITY for an application.
5W-30 weight is 5W-30 weight regardless of what it is made from.
Best Wishes for a super upcoming weekend to all, Mikey Lulejian - Arkansas, U.S.A.

I have some metal plates sitting on my desk for almost a year, I haven't had time to cut and paste it onto the car
Everytime I drive it I get so annoyed and promise myself I'll fix it following your instructions
Just too lazy
The 360 Spider is sold as of 48ish hours ago
The LS600 is a beautful car. Serene in its' own way. The lack of rotational kinetic energy due to the hybrid system makes this car the most drama free 70mph cruiser.
