Official 2013 Lexus LS460/460L/600hL & F-Sport thread

I saw a grey one and was surprised that it did not look a lot different from my 2011. Yes, there is a new grill, and the tail lights are different, but not an overwhelming feeling of a major change or totally new car like a Fusion 2012 vs Fusion 2013. I don't feel a major need to upgrade to the new car.

seen one @ the autoshow and it was in silver it didn't look bad but it didn't make feel like my 08 is a piece of crap so I will pass and hopefully get a complete refresh but that 10 inch screen is soooo nice, other than that its okay for those of us that do not have one but if you have a 460 or 600 I could see trading for one since its minor changes besides the obvious.

The front end may be a little polarizing but i definately think it's an acquired taste. The more you look, the more it becomes attractive.
On a sidenote, take a look at those wheels on the first picture, with the black lwb model. They look VERY VERY good. A strong, imposing stance, attributed to those wheels. Lexus is finally taking wheel design seriously. They used to make boring wheels, but with the intro of the CT, and the "new face of Lexus", the wheels are starting to look good. I think a lot of a car's character is developed from the wheels.
The older 06-12 model year LSs were not especially boring, but those stock wheels made the car not a super standout. Slap these 2013 wheels on them, and see how much more attractive they would be.
Good job on the wheels Lexus.

I am sorry but what is the big deal about the 2013 LS 460 redesign? I am the original owner of a 2001 LS430. When I purchased my car it was ground breaking in features, I just don't see the 2013 LS 460 differances from a 2012 LS460 in interior features. It virtually has the same transmission and engine. If it truly changed then why didn't the number change ? Do we have to wait another 7 yrs ? I am ready to buy a new car but I won't be buying a new 2013 LS, but if someone can confirm in 2014 their will be a LS 490, then I will wait. I am a loyal Lexus owner and really want a new car but I am getting impatient. Other cars that I am considering if Lexus doesn't plan on a newer version of the LS : Equus ( I am having a hard time spending $70K for a Hyundai ) or BMW 550i or Acura RLX (2014) or preowned LS 460 .....Tom Farinola, Newport beach calif

You are most likely right about the lack of substantial changes, but there are people, like myself, who appreciate design as the most important feature. Personally, I do not care too much about a big engine, great performance etc. I'd be happy owning a lwb LS with a four cylindar engine that is slow as a camry. I just like the design of the LS. And in this case, i feel the 2013 update is a visual improvement on the 2006-12.
Sure, there are people that won't agree with me. Lots of folks will want a huge engine that can smoke other cars in street runs, but there are other car enthusiasts that just like designs. The 2013 update appeals to those people, and probably not to others.

to make it short, this is a facelift, so thus the same drivetrain. could have improved on that, but it is what it is. the interior is quite refreshed and new imho, but exterior and drivetrain are debatable.
no words yet when the new redesign would come though

Most cars nowadays operate on a 6-year life cycle (between first release, then MMC facelift). With the case of this Lexus LS, it looks like it spent three full years->MMC facelift (duration was also three years)->what we're seeing today
So I'm guessing the 4th generation Lexus LS....will have a 9 year life cycle then. This new facelift will go on for 3 years (four years is stretching it)
With that said, I expect a 5th generation Lexus LS (FULL MODEL CHANGE) to occur within the next three year or exactly 36 months. Maybe 2015 or 2016.
*of course under the assumption that Lexus will release a 5th gen Lexus LS.........AND NOT extending the 4th generation for another three years by releasing another facelift)*

Thank you everyone who responded to my thread, I see I am not alone in my thoughts of the LS 460 refresh - personally I am not moved by the refresh to drop $80K yet, so I suppose I will continue to drive my 2001 LS 430.
I too noticed the soft close doors were very slow and I agree it is annoying but I know why they did this even if they don't say it. Personally I love my soft close doors, it is a must feature for me but I was one of those unfortunate customers who got my finger stuck in the door and believe me it was very painful! It was totally my fault, I wasn't paying attention when I closed the door but I can see why Lexus changed this. The minute you realize you screwed up, their isn't enough time with the old design to open the door ; however once you do it once you never do it again.
