What is more of a concern is the fender might flare in if there's a lot of material that needs to fold in. the metal is going to resist the roll and pull it self in if there's a lot of metal there. That's where shaving a bit of metal then rolling will help resist that from happening. I know it happens on the 2nd gen GS's.

I am at stock height and I have rubbing in the rear with a 295 Pirelli. Its only on HUGE dips at 45-55 mph or if Im turning onto my street ( its uphill) making a left. In my GS it was much worse so I took a metal file from home depot and shaved a few mm off the fender lip just from about 10-2 oclock .It was easy and I only removed what I needed to remove. I think next time I will try Michelins or Nitto INVOs
