Would you consider a LWB version of the LS in F SPORT trim?
#18
but then again, if someone tries to argue lwb is "worse" on handling than swb is like trying to argue a car 0-60 is 0.2sec faster than another. paper spec race is meaningless
in reality? lwb and swb they both handle about the same -- like boat, hehe...
yup, we have all been saying that. but some will argue on the b7. but then again, it's not from bmw

yes, lwb is about 1ft larger in turning circle (36.1 vs 37.4).

The B7 is available in both SWB and LWB. I think it might be a recent thing though, I think initially is SWB only. Ha, I got this one

Damn you got me again, my memory failed me again, it is the AWD that adds 350 lbs, the LWB is only 90 lbs. I am too lazy to look these stuff up now, just going with my bad memory
I guess so. I just think you can kind of feels the shorter wheelbase.

Standard wheelbase has a larger trunk too!
The long wheelbase is longer from the B pillar to the rear bumper and the main advantage is rear seat legroom. In general a longer wheelbase has a smoother ride by extending the distance between pavement changes. If you use the rear seat a lot then you are a candidate for the LWB. You do forfeit a bit of trunk volume in the LWB. The front seat space is the same in both versions. The long wheelbase models usually have more options and of course cost more too.
The strangest anomaly is the LS600hL with the Executive package. If the rear seat passenger uses the shiatsu massage while reclined the front seat must move forward eliminating it as a seat position. Then you are left with a three passenger configuration including the driver due to the massive rear center console. You also get the smallest trunk capacity of the LS series. In 2013 the hybrid battery was moved lower and trunk capacity is improved....I must say that the driver's seat is heaven on the 600hL and what is behind me is of no concern....

the trunk size has to do with the packages i believe. at least from 07-09, if you get the base or touring ls460l, the trunk size is the same as the swb ls460. all 5 inches go to the rear cabin space. you lose trunk space when you go with rear seats upgrade package or the exec seating package, where they have a full AC compressor unit behind the rear seats thus eating up the trunk space
