The quietest/best riding tire for an 18" wheel . . .
My car is actually a 1992 SC300 that I am putting some 18" F-sport "spider" wheels on it. It seems everybody in the SC forum is one of those "hella-flush" retards who think its great to have 1" of ground clearence and put 215/40/R19 sized tires on 9.5 wide wheels.
So I ask you guys, who are a bit more practical and use these cars as intended(ie straight interstate cruisers), what is the best tire on a big 18" wheel????

18 is not big. Why don't you just put on what the factory recommends? It's a 1992 so how good can the ride be? It won't compare to a newer ls so it may not make much of a difference.

Ooops, didn't think my words were harsh at all. This time, I meant no harm by my comments before we go off on a tangent. Don't be so sensitive. Just saying that it probably wouldn't make that much of a difference unless he's riding on Pep Boy tires. C'mon guys, get out of your feelings.

No, your words were a bit harsh, especially since you said them to a bunch of low profile riding folks. That's what many of us use here on CL.
I don't care what you say though. I won't be offended by a narrow minded person and I can still look past it.
As for your question, I love Michelin tires....but the tire that was the most quiet and smooth I ever used, that would be the Bridgestone 960AS. They last long too.

Also, if you haven't noticed the car is 20 years old. Tire technology has changed A LOT, and I'm not running the stock 15" tire size.
Thanks for the advice guys. Reason I came in here was that the newer model LS cars are running 18" wheels like I'm putting on my SC. Thought you LS guys might have better advice in terms of ride/noise levels for tires, since A LOT of the SC guys are obsessed with putting their cars on coilovers, running negative camber, and fretting about bottoming out on a 2" high speed bump.
Next couple of days I'm going to be running errands near the Lexus dealer in town. Probably going to jot down some brands and tire specs on what Lexus is currently putting on their cars. I'm thinking that's a good starting point on what's a good tire.

That's what I was saying from the get go. Yeah, I noticed the car is 20 years old, that's the point. Go to Lexus to see what they suggest! You didn't start your question off good either. Alot of us are on low profiles and I for one am not retarded. Now that's what's ****ty!

Just saying there are a lot of people into that "look" in the SC forum, obviously your car is going to ride like **** and be noisy as hell. Just trying to filter out the retards and ask people who still use their cars as intended(ie interstate driving) as to what the best tire is.
