Default Oil Change Question

I went to an oil change place and those guys couldn't change my filter. They recently had lost the part that connects to the oil filter.

They did change my oil for me and I left without having to pay anything.

Do I need to still get my oil filter changed? Is it required?

Default Oil Change Filter

Yes, the oil filter needs to be changed and I would change the oil again, also The changing of the filter itself is a critical part of the maintenance.

In fact go buy your oil and oem filter online and take that to your dealer and they will charge about $30 of labor..semi self oil change.

I have only driven a few miles since the oil change. I will simply ask them to change the oil filter.

Yep, you need to change the oil filter. How could the paid automechanics get a job if they don't even know how to change an oil filter? ^^ agreed with CJITTY>

Some, not all. Tiny amount really. In order to pull the filter, a
special tool special tool
is sometimes needed. The tool has slots that engage fins on the filter housing allowing sufficient torque to remove the housing with ease. Without the special tool, other filter wrenches can fail to turn a really socked-in housing. It behooves Lexus (and Toyota) owners to buy the tool and let their oil changers use it if they don't have one (they don't!)
