Default 40gb HD in 2010

Does the 10 LS 460 have a hard drive to store music on? The sales person said it did but I cannot find any mention of it in the owners manual. I have had the car for almost two weeks and am slowly finding other things she has been wrong/lied/mistaken about.

Stefnee, one thing that has been well documented in this forum is that some salespeople know very little about the cars they sell. Some will also lie. I had a Lexus salesman tell me such a bald-faced lie one time that I actually wrote a letter to the GM. For me it wasn't so much that he intentionally lied, but that he insulted my intelligence to think that I would actually believe it.

You wouldn't think/expect that ignorance and deceit would exist in a Lexus dealership, but it can.

Only the 2007 - 2009 LS 460s with the Mark Levinson system had the option to store music on the internal hard drive. Any 2007+ Lexus LS with navigation will have a hard drive -- but only the ML systems allowed you to rip music to the hard drive.

Interesting.

Any tips on how it's done? I have a 2007 with ML.

Looks like I need to dive into the manual again.

when you put in a CD you should see an option to record the CD. you can select which songs you want recorded and it will rip them to the hard drive.

Randy, I haven't done it in a while, but it's pretty intuitive. You can rip the whole CD or just the cuts you want. And as I recall it can be done while you are driving.

Is there any way to copy music from an iPod onto the hard drive?

Doooh, I didn't even see nsaldanh had already answered you.

Yes, use the ipod to burn a CD and then put the CD in your car player.

I'm pretty sure you can't do it directly.

No - there is no way to copy it directly from any device via usb or otherwise. Ripping from a CD is your only option.

Also any ML system on the LS will also support DVD Audio. You can store about 7 to 8 CDs on one DVD Audio disk.
