Default 2013 LS460L AWD vs. 2008-2009 LS600hL

Doing some dreaming tonight. Been a rough couple of years. Back in school and in a few years I'll be in a different career. Needing something out in front of me to look forward to, and an LS is one of those things.

Just wanted to get some opinions on what others would put their money down for. There's obviously going to be a price difference between the two, surprisingly in favor of the LS 600. I'm an AWD car guy, so I'd be looking for that in the LS460L.

I love the redesign from an aesthetic point of view. My favorite car I've ever owned was the 2004 Audi A8L. Beautiful, beautiful car, in my opinion, but so many trips to Audi for service. It was the car that cured me of any "German fever" I might get. The new LS is the first car inside and out that rivals the styling of the Germans. Now that's just my opinion, and each of us has one.

But I also love the thought of owning all of the comfort in the LS600. Seems like with depreciation the LS 600 could be an amazing bargain in a few years.

Like I said, there are tons of opinions and I'd love to hear yours.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I have no regrets buying my CPO 2008 LS600hL in August 2012..I can talk for days about this car but when you put it in sport suspension and hybrid power modes...gooood laaawwwwdd...I say go for a CPO 600..2009 version added bigger trunk and passenger door memory seats. If you can swing a 2010 600hL..the trunk is even bigger and that unique instrument cluster is specifically made for the 600hL..I highly recommend CPO or a solid 3rd party warranty at a minimum. The headlight housing on the 600 is about $5k MSRP as an example

CJITTY - thanks for your reply. Glad to hear you love your 600, but what's not to love?

Thanks again!

By the time you're ready to buy one after you finish school the 2013 models will be priced at what the 08-09 models are now. Aim for the 2013. I'd go either swb fsport or lwb 600 when the time comes

My first job out of hs working for the bank me and another co worker were steady dreaming about the 1998 gs400. That was our goal then. 2012 came around. 2 career changes later and on my second lexus I got this. "Started from Tha bottom now were here" lol

@bwilsongs, Looking at a owning a LS600 as a goal to acheive is a great one. To be honest that was my sole purpose of really going to school was to get some things in life that I've always dreamed about owning and of course the 600 was high on list(I own a 2008 LS600 Exec. Package). And that dreaming is what actually help to motivate me through engineering school (I have a B.S. in Civil Engineering but works as an Environmental Engineer) so I say go ahead and let that be something to look forward to into making your dreams a reality. But, also in your situation I would definitely agree with jitty on if you could swing a later model by the time you get out of school i say go with it. I have yet to hear or read any owner of an LS saying they have regrets on purchasing their vehicle( I definitely don't). Shoot for the 6
