There's a member on here with over 300k on his, he bought it from a guy who used it for a limo service for a couple of years. All he has had to do is replace some minor things.

Default Oh yeah...

They indeed can pass the test of time. I had a customer show up in my service drive with a 07 Ls460, with 275,500 miles on it still running and looking great. He was a traveling salesman and drives all over the country in it.

The LS is just a well built automobile and required little maintenance. Just have the oil changed and the maintenance done, and used a good grade of gasoline. Then drive, drive, drive, drive.

I have 102k on mine and it feels like a new car. I'll be putting 30k a year on mine, so the miles should add up fairly quickly. When I went to get my recall done the service advisor told me these cars will make it to 200-230k and still look and feel pretty new, which to me is amazing. He said the only thing you'll do to it is normal maintenance....that's all he sees, which I know doesn't jive with the "control arm failures" and "brake actuators" voices of doom of the world.

And it's very rare for you - an LS 400 owner - to pay any sort of compliment to the LS 460, for some reason all I've seen is LS 400 and LS 430 owners passively aggressively bash these cars.

indeed im not only a Ls400 driver, but a Ls400 fanatic! don't ask me about the Ls430 I cant stand those. but I like the Ls460. I like the way they feel the way they look and the way they drive. besides, the Ls400s are getting very old at this point, and the one I have now will probably be my last one as a daily driver. im skipping the Ls430 and going right to a 460... the early ones have almost depreciated enough to afford lol, besides that, no way im going to insult and bash the Ls460 considering I have a feeling that when I get one, its going to be a turd with half a million miles on it (limited income here) and im going to need you guys help over on this forum on restoration advice..

the Ls460 is a car ive wanted since the first time I saw one at the end of 06. I drove to a dealership that was closed that day and stood in 39 degree rain peering into the showroom just to get a look at one. true story!

Buy one for 18k plus. Picture your LS400's with 385 hp and WAY better handling. The new amenities are just a bonus.

I'm with you. I've been thinking of buying a cheap LS400 just to beat on and use as my DD. Had a 98 previously. Something to play around with. Can get them now for under $2k in decent shape.

I certainly enjoyed my 400. A solid car and worlds ahead of it's time. I also wanted the 460 when it first arrived, but I'm not into paying high dollar for a car. So, I found a nice 430 and drive it 6 years. It certainly wasn't my favorite Lexus, but it offered a few more amenities and held me over till I found the 460 at a price I was willing to pay. There are more and more 07's popping up with sub 100K mileage for decent money. Keep looking on sites like autotrader and cargurus. Something will surface.

That will be great when you get one...looking forward to your contributions here.

I've put another 13,000 miles on mine since I last posted on this read (now at 115,000 miles). I replaced 6 control arms and a wheel bearing since then ($750 bucks)...right now the car feels like a brand new car. So in 115,000 miles of driving, something finally broke...hopefully it will be another 115,000 before something else does. Still on the original water pump, let's see how long that lasts.

I'd really love to know more about how the 600's are doing. There doesn't seem to be many out there, and the car doesn't seem to share any drivetrain components with the 460's.

Some 600s are out there with 250K+ miles, it shares the control arm issues with the 460 + hybrid battery at this high mileage.

I have a friend who's had a LS400 in his family for 20 years...they can't part with it...spent a bunch recently on repairs and had it painted. I thought they were crazy, but it does look good again now and they did do all the necessary repairs. They'll probably keep it another 10 years, why not? It's better than half the cars out there today.

I have a 09 LS460 with a 14k on it but I purchased it with 68k on it back in 2012. It runs and rides like a dream. I would see myself keeping this car for another 10+ years to keep driving it on trips and around town. I would tell you to first do all the reuired maintenece and it will run forever...

I have a feeling as soon as the Ls500 comes out the early 460s are going to freefall in price. im waiting to get a 07-08 LS460L black on grey or tan under $10k. soon as that happens ill be in the game. buddy of mine just got a white/grey 08 L for $14k.

I work at a lexus dealership in the service department and have had a lot of seat time in early 460s. enough to know what there quirks are and how to handle them. the only things that worry me are the unique problems cars develop as they age.. whats going to happen with them...
