Default Which would you choose

Need some opinions please. There's 2 Lexus dealers near me that have the following 2 cars that I'm contemplating - I've done a quick currency conversion on estimated price:

1) 2007 LS460 with 53K Miles (around $29k)
2) 2009 LS460 with 99K Miles (around $26k)

Both are silver and identically spec'ed except for the year/model changes, which I believe are minor. We did not get any factory options here in South Africa. All LS's have ML, nav, etc and only the SWB was available.

I've seen both the cars above. The 2007 is in slightly better condition - seats are less worn, but the 2009 is also in very good condition apart from the drivers seat. Both will come with a 6 month dealer warranty as minimum.

Give me some opinions please: assuming both are very close in terms of overall condition, which would you take? The higher mileage/newer car or the older/lower mileage one?

2009 is preferable, even with the mileage - it has never had the deep engine surgery like the 2007 has

but if I was spending $26 THOUSAND DOLLARS for a 5 YEAR OLD car, you can bet it would be flawless inside and out, looking like it just rolled off the showroom floor! (and no accidents on the Autocheck either!)

so to answer your original question of:
which would you choose?
neither of those two!

be patient and wait for the creampuff!

What do you mean by that?

I think he means the recall on the 07-08 models for the valves. But I would get the 09. For Toyotas, mileage is low on the priority list.

You say they will come with a 6 month dealer warranty minimum. Is the 2007 Certified used? Do the dealerships there offer certified used 3 year 100,000 miles? If the 07 is certified used for 3 years 100,000 miles I would probably take that one. If not, you could see if you can get an extended warranty for the 07. If a 6 month warrants is all that is offered than I would wait for a newer model with less miles to buy.

Unfortunately the dealer warranties for used cars are not as comprehensive here. The standard is 4yr/100K KM (not miles) on new Lexus models. Hence, both the vehicles are out of this (one for time and one for mileage) and the most they can offer is a 6 month unlimited mileage warranty on both of them.
