I was speaking with my service dept, since I am thinking of purchasing an 08, and they said the actuator replacement is covered under warranty. Evidently the loud 'squishing' noise happens anywhere from 60-90k and will be replaced for free. If you are out of warranty, I guess you'll have to try whatever you can given the cost of replacement. Replacing the actuator costs about $3,500. I doubt bleeding the brakes will fix the clicking noise. I had to have the actuator replaced on my 08 LS 460 under warranty. I had about 10K miles on it when the actuator was replaced.

luckily mine had the brake actuator done before I even purchased the car. Hopefully it lasts. Im not dropping 3500 to fix anything. That would be time to trade the car. I have a warranty up until 100k. fingers crossed

On my 08 LS460 you would hear a crunching groaning sound when you put your foot on the brake and put the car in reverse to back up. That happened almost every time I went to reverse.
I also heard a clicking sound when you braked hard. Lexus mostly denied there was a problem for the first year until I could duplicate it at will a year into me owning the car.

Happy to report that the "special procedure to bleed the actuator" eliminated the annoying ticking.... $200 well invested... They wrote "air in the brake system" is the cause.

i may check into it as i think mine just started acting up.. sounds like a small frog croaking.. bleed for 200 sounds doable 3500 not in the cards rt now.. ( may be time for that R8)
i thought there was a tsib on the actuator? did it have a mileage limit on it?

There's one other, but it may not apply. Both are good till 48 mos. or 50k miles.

i am here to tell you that the squishy noise is heard in my 2013 LS460 ( happens when the brake peddle is pressed a certain way because i don't always here it ) jumped into 2 brand new 460s that were on the lot... and heard the same squishy noise. my brake actuator was changed 3 or 4 months after i bought the car brand new, actually twice, once in NY and once in GA. it's apparent they've had problems with the actuators and they still haven't come up with a solution.

My 08 also had the brake actuator replaced under warranty by the previous owner due to the knocking noise. Hopefully the new improved part holds up, so far OK... knock on wood

Ryan78: I don't have the 08 anymore. Traded it in last year for a 2012 LWB
