Default a/c shut down

I just returned to Florida after leaving LS 460 in garage for 5 months. Car & a/c start up fine but after 5 minutes of driving the a/c shuts down & can not be re-started until I shut off the engine. I re-start the car and again after about 5 minutes, the a/c shuts down. All a/c panel lights are off except "outside temperature". In the dashboard console where the outside temperature is normally displayed there is an "E" displayed instead. The coolant fluid level is fine.

probably just low freon + leak?....but there's a LS specific forum this needs to be moved to where they can confirm my suspicion.

low on freon or leak. When you are out the compressor heats up and the ECU will shut it off to protect it. Same as with a house .Time to see the dealership

Your post really caught my eye. You said you parked your car for 5 moths and it started fine. Did you have to charge the battery or keep a trickle charger on it? You need to check the battery's state of charge before you chase your AC problem too far. Many of the control systems in these cars employ microprocessors and problems with the battery seem to cause some strange indications.

Thanks, good plan, probably no worries about the battery.

I would have the battery properly tested under load before assuming anything else. If the battery is not putting out proper voltage, the computer will start shutting down various systems to keep the car running.

A friend just had the same issue with their Sienna van and all issues went away after the compressor was replaced. Seems odd but it worked like a charm
