Talking Door Hinge replacement recomended

My 2007 LS 460 has developed a problem with a hard closing drivers door.
It's like the door hinges were damaged in an accident- which is not the case-.
The automatic door closers still work but it is difficult to close the door to where the closers take over.
The dealer says it needs new hinges and also said they have not experienced it before.
It is an expensive fix -$400.00.
Have any of you replace a door hinge on your own and if so how difficult is it to change the hinges?

Here is a link to a door hinge thread from a while back, maybe there is some wisdom there for you: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...the-hinge.html

It was I who had started that thread.. simple answer - you have to buy new hinges and have them painted and replaced. It seems to be a manufacturing defect from Lexus - certain cars have that problem. I had 3 ls 600HLs (still have one left). Only one had a door hinge issue, for 1 door.

Buy the hinges from sewell lexus in dallas. They are not expensive and give discount to members of this forum.. thats where i bought mine. had a body shop install them. You cannot do it yourself - you won't be able to get the bolts out and in.. Maybe a special tool is needed.
