Honestly it might buy you time but if you still have part #44050-50110 (original actuator) you will eventually need to get the LS600 actuator #44510-50090. It automatically supersedes in their system to provide the new part. Lexus began replacing them in all LS models in the year 2010 and up so its not like they don't know about it...
I honestly feel like its inevitable especially if they stopped using it and have a TSB up for it and all.
I'd rather replace anything that fails with an upgraded part anyday cause once those 2-3 imperfections get upgraded you now have a car that's more reliable than the original. I just wish we can be reimbursed or at very least be provided replacement for known faulty mandatory parts at manufacturer cost.

Does anybody have instructions on how to replace the brake/abs actuator. One dealer after inspection quoted me $3710 + tax. Another dealer quoted me $4500+tax. I saw that a dealer in South Atlanta is selling the actuator assemby for $1310.00. I mostly did repairs on my previous cars before, but probably I can do this with instructions.
Any reply is appreciated.

Hi nor725,

Two items that might help...
1. Autozone has free access to very nice and well detailed repair guides...only need to register with them to access. Although they couldn't sell me the part, they did have the instructions on how to install/replace new one. Here's an example: http://www.autozone.com/repairguides...96b43f80381870
2. Don't know how to automatically hyperlink you to another forum thread but there's some info regarding pricing (new vs used) compared to the much higher costs you are referencing...I will go and get it via screencapture and post in a moment.

Good luck...I am researching the costs and processes of replacing mine as well. I have a 2006 400h with 135k and trying to justify spending more than the car's current book value.

Okay, I think I have figured out how to hyperlink now....here is the reference to the other thread...ABS Actuator Replacement post #'s 13 and 14:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...placement.html This helped me to determine it was really not worth going the "used" or "pull-a-part" route. Just a matter of shopping the internet for the best price on new one. Was nice to know what the "new" price should be...realistically.

Default Brake Actuator

Lexus Fans, I picked up a new 2015 LS (SWB) at the end of last May when the lease on my 2011 ended. The car is wonderful except that at about 2500 miles I began hearing the clunking and squishing noises. I took the car to the dealer where the first service advisor told me that the noises were normal. When I told him that the car hadn’t made the noise for the past three months he said it’s because the brakes are just now “getting broken in”. I knew better from reading the posts here so I asked to speak with the shop Forman. The Forman said that the noise was not normal and to leave the car overnight and they would check it in the morning. The next day the Forman had changed his opinion and now all was within “normal limits”.

I filed a protest with Lexus and they sent two factory folks out who drove the car and said that was some air in the braking system. Seriously? They changed the fluid and took the car for a test drive where the noise continued. They called and without admitting that the actuator was bad, changed it out for Customer Satisfaction.

It was totally quiet until mid-February and now there is some clicking noise when I brake. So, perhaps the problem hasn’t been solved.

Fortunately, most of the time I’m moving forward so I still love the car. Also, thank goodness for the Mark Levinson’s help in blocking out the noise. BTW. We still have our 2002 LS that I bout new and drove until 2011 when my wife took it. Great cars!

I think my 2012 has a repeat failure of the brake actuator. The warranty history shows an actuator replacement for a "spring noise and squeak" at 1646 miles, and it recently started making these noises again at 69k. Here is the text of the original repair:
R&R BRAKE ACTUATOR INCLUDES BRAKE BLEED CUSTOMER STATES VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL MAKES A SPRING NOISE AND A SEPARATE SQUEAK NOISE WHEN APPLYING AND RELEASING PEDAL - TEST DROVE AND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE SQUAWK NOISE FROM DRIVER'S FIREWALL AREA. NOISE IS FROM BRAKE ACTUATOR MAKING NOISE WHEN PRESSURE IS AP - 264 TEST DROVE AND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE SQUAWK NOISE FROM DRIVER'S FIREWALL AREA. NOISE IS FROM BRAKE ACTUATOR MAKING NOISE WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED.

Hi i know this is a old post, but are you still in need of those instructions on how to change the actuator?
