Get your rotors and pads at RockAuto. I changes the front brakes myself in about 2 hours. Total cost of high performance slotted and drilled disk with ceramic pads current cost $312.00 Can$. That was 125,000 km ago and still perfect braking.

Hi everyone,

I have an 07 460 with now 117,000 miles and still on all original suspension components.

I know the day is coming when I will have to replace things and so I have been reading this thread.

I have to say that it bothers me that there is no clear consensus of what manufacture of control arms and shock to buy.

Some say just buy on ebay, others say Rockauto, Beck-Arnley, some say Autozone because of their warranty.

Am I wrong in that there is no consensus opinion, are all the makers of our suspension stuff so much the same?

I do not think that is true, to determine what is best for you, you have to see if you are doing the job yourself or getting it done. Essentially if you are paying to get it done, labour would likely be expensive whether you change the whole arms out or press in bushings. Then you have to figure out if the bushing option is even viable because your balljoints might be gone anyways so u would HAVE to change arms. i would go with mevotech supreme or ac delco. That is my conclusion so far, but I would change out the front upper bushings even on new arms to FIGS from the top ones and PSB for the bottom ones, and anything else that I have to retain stock type bushings even if changed to new febest ones I would reinforce with something like 3m window weld or liquid nails before installation.

Default Change in Canadian ATF recommendation

It appears that beginning in 2010 Canada dropped the recommendation for ATF fluid change.

Why is that? What evidence do you have changing the fluid does anything other than burn a lot of time and money?

I have analysis results from Blackstone indicating you are wrong about the AA80E. What do you have?

your sample had 100,000 kilometers on it, right?
my car had over 200,000 miles, like 350,000 km on the original fluid when I changed it. It took a LOT of fluid - 17 quarts or so and several tries but when I got it done, the transmission shifts are much improved over what it was like when I bought the car.

No. 120,000 miles, about 200k km including 6 track weekends on a road course. If you read the thread I linked, you'll understand pretty quickly the fluid level is the culprit, not the age of the fluid. The fluid level drops regularly and it needs to be topped off routinely if you want shifting to be stable.

Default Currently at 229k on my ls460L

Great road trip car especially with the backseat fridge for canned drinks, still a high mileage car with the high pressure fuel gasket, the electrical gremlins of a luxury car. But no cracks or torn seats it’s a very decent car. I’m work on the headlight and currently looking into the so interior lighting led upgrades

Default Routine Maintenance

What are you planning to do maintenance wise or what have you done or replaced?
Thanks
I have a 2007 LS460 with 122,000 miles and just recently completed some service. I flushed the radiator, had the plugs changed along with the valve cover gaskets, and one lower control arm. The pesky problem has been an oil leak near the filter housing. I changed to the aluminum housing but that did not stop the leak. I am now changing the gaskets on the upper pan to see if that resolves the issue.

My point is if you pay attention to your cars and catch the small things first they will not become major problems. Whenever my wife leave in her car in the morning I listen to her drive away. I do this to hear if there is anything going on with her car. I fully expect to drive this Lexus for 200,000 miles or more.
The real point is BMW used to make solid cars but no longer do.

shocks (non-air): KYB or lexus OEM (which is KYB anyway)
control arms: Delphi, or Lexus OEM(higher price)
It's amazing that your LS460 has 117k miles without replacing control arms. your city must have great roads with no potholes.

Default 275 k so far...

I have a 2012 L AWD with LKA, ACC, etc with 275k miles. Was thinking about posting an update to the post below but no need as have only done oil changes. All maintenance as is stated below...
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...e-repairs.html

2012 LS460L AWD
275k miles
ACC, LKA, Comfort, Cold Weather, etc.
All options except fancy executive seat, although does have massager, reclining rear seats and 2 tv’s.

Had 50k miles in 2015, 236k 2020.
After 5k miles, zero oil use and a little too clean, using kirkland 0W20.

Current needs:
Front bushings making noise but tracks great and tires wearing evenly
Auto intermittent wipers do not work, prob due to windshield being replaced and not calibrated.
Headlights need to polished
Rear brakes need changing soon, sensor wore out 5k miles ago

Everything else works perfectly.

Maintenance/repairs (all done at dealer)
52 oil changes 45 at dealer
Rear brakes: 202k, 97k
Front brakes: 181k, 90k
Front Air shocks: 175k, 71k, 33k (RF) (all showing as warranty oddly enough)
Coolant O ring 207k
Oil leak at 181k, replaced Center back gasket, intake gasket, O rings, PVC, this was valley leak
Lower control arms: 173k
Front CV boots: 140k
Spark Plugs: 120k, 250k
Tranny + differential service: 120k, 250k
Coolant+brake service: 120k
speed sensor 130k
repair wiring chewed by mice 195k
New interior at 238k miles
Air filters as needed
THAT IS IT!!!!

wow, at 275k miles, I'd expect the radiator, water pump, thermostat, belt to get replaced at least twice.
and its great that it does not need brake actuator replacement, and no coolant leak at engine valley plate.
