I would not purchase any 3rd party warranty. All of them are terrible and will not be beneficial to you. Take the 3 grand or so a terrible 3rd party warranty would cost, put it in an account with the best interest rate you can find, then when you have an issue purchase the parts yourself and pay a local Lexus shop to fix the problem. I am willing to bet the $1500 the dealer said it would cost to replace the ac compressor would have been 1/3 to 1/2 if your sourced the oem part and paid a reputable mechanic yourself.

Route 66 extended warranty is the way to go. Bought 100K miles/60 month for my 08 LWB from my credit union, paid ~$1,950. Already used it to replace water pump, tensioner and passenger lumber support at the dealer, they paid $2,500. They don't pay for taxes, fluids and belts. Make sure that you get the enhanced electronics package option, it was included in the above price.

EXACTLY! And this is the general advice given by most consumer publications.
