Default Garage door opener distance

Have a Chamberlin garage door opener with the rolling codes. The remote that came with it will operate from 60 to 80 ft. away.

The lexus opener on my 2011 LS has to be very close to the garage door. About 15 ft away.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Please tell us the model # for your garage door opener. Or more specifically, if you know, does it use the "Security +2.0" or newer rolling code system?

Its a Chamberlain Wisper Drive HD900D with battery backup. Bought in 2008.
Manual does say Security+ but not 2.0 anywhere.

Good, there was a problem with older HomeLink operating the newer openers but you don't seem to have that problem.

Your car's HomeLink should work out to a couple hundred feet or more. It is unlikely that there is a problem with your car. The first thing that you should try is erasing the car's HomeLink and erasing the opener's memory and re-syncing them. Be sure to use one of the remote openers that came with the garage opener to set up the garage opener initially and test that it has good range. Then use the same opener to set up the car's HomeLink. The car does not learn the code from the remote but does learn the frequency and format. After you train the car's HomeLink then you will have to sync the opener with the car's HomeLink.

HomeLink has an Internet site that explains how to do all that and they have a support group that is very good at helping resolve issues.

You can find them here: http://www.homelink.com/home/welcome

Pretty sure I found the problem. Just realized this started when I replaced the Garage door opener light bulbs with the new LED bulbs. I knew neon light could could a problem. But reading on the web so can LEDs.
Only had the car about 10 days so just getting used to it.
Will try the reprograming. But don't think that is the problem. The lexus remote works just has limited range and I have to hold the button down for a few seconds for it to work.
Its a shame because the LEDs were brighter, used only 9 watts and were rated to last 10 years.

Relocate the antenna on the garage door opener away and lower from the lights to cease interference.

I was about to post that. The antenna should hang vertically and straight.

Definitely was the LED light bulbs. And this was the brand name one.

Actually with the lights on the Lexus or Chamberlin remotes would not work before or after reprogramming with the garage opener lights on.
I put back in the old style standard bubs and Lexus and other remotes works at least 75 ft out. . Did not try further.

On the first post I thought the Chamberlin remotes were still working because by the time I tried them the garage opener lights had turned off. Same thing, by the time I had pulled the Lexus back in the driveway and close to the door to retry, the lights had just turned off.

So everything works great. Just don’t use LED bulbs in a garage opener...

Antenna was already straight down. Don't think I can relocate the antenna or make it longer. It would still pick up the signal in the LED bulbs.

Also these were the CREE brand LEDs in case anyone interested.

Do you happen to know which brand? I would like to try them if you don't mind checking.

I am sure that my LED bulbs were my problem. Could it be different with different openers or brand bulbs?
