Default LS purchase help

I'm getting ready to sell my 2006 IS350 and purchase a used LS 460

My preference is the LS460 L as I want the longer wheel base.

I am looking at both 2011 and 2012 models. Does anyone have any thoughts and differences in these two model years. Is any one better? Was there a change from 11-12 model years?

Any must have options?

Thanks for the help!

While not really an "option" per se, buying a certified pre-owned, or CPO, LS is highly recommended. You will get a 36 month/100,000 mile warranty and have the assurance that the car is in good shape when you purchase it.

Many consider the Mark Levinson sound system to be must-have, but my stock LS stereo is really nice.

The model library from the Lexus CPO site has decent info....

http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_library/LS/2013.html

Just change the year from the drop down menu, and read up.

I have a CPO 2011 LS SWB that I just purchased a month ago, and I love it. I have an AWD model, and did not want the airbag suspension, what I was able to find out from the site above was that the airbag suspension was standard on all AWD models until 2011...when it became an option. My 2011 doesn't have it, so I am happy. However, my model also doesn't have the ML sound system, which I did want. Lastly, I love Black, but love Smokey Granite a tad more. In the end, when you're buying used you might have to make some trade offs on what you really want versus what's out there.

In the end, the price and miles (only 22,900 for me) of my 2011 Black/Black LS with no airbags and no ML were worth it to me instead of trying to find the perfect car and missing out on the bird in hand.

Hey, welcome Slimjim!

At the top of this forum there is a sticky with FAQ's. There is a whole section on the differences and also preferred options (Model descriptions differences). You have a lot of reading to do!

Once you're done please come back and ask any specific questions you still have, and I'm sure there will be some.

Exactly my situation. I have been a hi-fi buff for 50 years and wanted the ML system pretty badly. But, there was this immaculate white on alabaster CPO 2011 with 26,000 miles just sitting on the lot the first week of December

Also looking at a 2010 LS600H L.

Would live to hear sone thoughts on this car compared to the 460L

Looks like there is not any significant mileage improvement with the Hybrid.

I get 5mpg more on my 600hL in city driving compared to my old 460. Tons of mpg discussion in other threads. Use the search feature for addl research

Might make a deal on a 2010 LS600hL this week.

Any other thoughts on a 600 vs a 460?

Is it worth the extra $, the car has everything except for the executive seating package.
