I want to make sure I understand what you did correctly. Did you keep the stock sub? Or install a new sub? Thanks for clarifying...

Cut the wire of the oem sub and use my own sub and amp for the bass. I think if you go all the way, you should replace the oem sub with a good one. The LOC on the cut oem sub wires will feed the new amplifier for the new sub.
So to be clear:
1. battery -- wire -- to new amp
2. cut oem sub wires -- install LOC and RCA wire to new amp
3. new amp to feed new sub
4. let the old oem alone in case you want to reverse install
5. remote bass volume from new amp to front seat for control
So to be clear:
1. battery -- wire -- to new amp
2. cut oem sub wires -- install LOC and RCA wire to new amp
3. new amp to feed new sub
4. let the old oem alone in case you want to reverse install
5. remote bass volume from new amp to front seat for control
