LS460's are really nice cars and yes if he loves the car then go for it. I fell in love with these luxury styled cars and the cabin is extremely comfortable IMO. Almost like the 7 series beemer's
BUT if i had $80k to spend, it wouldnt be on a LS460. For a couple grand more you can buy a GTR

Not anymore with the new model.
Don't see how anyone can call the new model an old mans car.
Unless its like the corvette and you mostly see old guys driving it because they are the ones that can afford them.

It honestly is. I mean the term itself is stupid because theres no age limit on what car you can buy or should buy, but the typical owner you see driving is retired or close to retiring looking for reliability, comfort, and luxury. I got my 600hL at 18 and now I'm 21 and everyone at the dealer says its shocking to see me with this car and not a BMW, S7, SL 550, insert sporty car. But everyone has different tastes and mine reflects well on my maturity level.

I think I can speak on the subject as well - I'm 27 and was 26 when I got my LS460L.
For me, I was coming from a LS430 that I purchased when I was 22. I'd previously come from a 95 Toyota Camry. The LS430 didn't win me points with my age group, but it sure as hell got me points with the "wisdom crowd."
The LS460 has a younger looking design and actually fits me better than the 430 did. Both are rock solid reliable, but the 430 showed me, as a young person how to take care of my stuff. I put 160000 miles on it before I sold it (bought at 90000) and you couldn't tell how old it was or how many miles it had. Inside or out!
I looked at the W221, W216, R230, A8 and Bentley before purchasing the LS460. In the end, the Lexus reliability and predictability had me sold. I don't drive as much as I use to because I travel a lot for work, and coming home to potential unknown problems with my primary mode of transportation was not worth my time.
That being said, I do have a W140 S500 that lights my fire in ways that the LS460L can't. My next addition is shaping up to be a R129 SL500 or SL600.
