Dude. Its plastidip, spray whatever you want, if you dont like it peel it off. Personally Id do the trim, grill and rim but just try it out if you dont like it take the minute out to peel it right back off.

Thanks..it really holds up great even on all the road trips I have done. It also gives it a unique texture but the stuff is amazing. Some folks black out their chrome trim but the good thing is it is strong yet peels off after you get it started rather easily. I know its not everyone's taste, but I wanted to mute the bling down on my grill but not make the change permanent either.

I did my grill on both cars and it holds up great! Plastic dip can be used more than just for tools especially when you take to a custom shop that specializes in dipping cars, cars wheels and create custom colors. A member here had his car dipped Pearl white with gold flakes with gloss on top last fall. It came out great, original color is black.

I was the first to do the grill on a 460 and I haven't had to retouch it at all since I did it. I also did the rear bottom section of the bumper and exhaust tips like Dung did in that link you posted. With that though you have to tape it off more precisely. There's no place for the plastidip to cut itself once dry.

@Ibintab I saw one of your pics and really liked how the car looked, do you mind posting one or two pics on here of the front and the back of your ls?

I was looking at some of your posts and saw the video you posted here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...65#post8323165. There's an ls 460 in there (I think its white) that has a crazy body kit around the 1:25 mark. Could you give me some info on that?

Thanks for the link. That's honestly the only kit I've seen so far that I'm in love with, everything else I feel takes the beauty out of the LS but this kit is crazy.

I found a shop in Chicago that sells the kit and quoted me around $5700 for the whole thing plus installation. I don't have the time or money for it right now but sometime in the future hopefully.

Plasti dipped my grill last night and did the $8 chrome on the bottom. Looks great and very factory. Thanks for the ideas.

If anyone could help me with the removal of the grill I'd appreciate it. I removed the few black pieces of plastic trim, but am having trouble with the actual grill. I took off the bolt in the middle of the grill, the two clips on the side, but I think my issue is with the two actual screws, they are very soft and very easy to accidentally strip. I rotated them as far as I could, but the grill is still pretty firm, does anyone know what to do next?

cant belive plasti dip has made its way into the ls forums , i thought it was just for thye teenagers buying up the sc400s and hondas,

plasti dip is a cheap , band aid style 'mod' , do not use platidip on a classy car like the 460 please

Going to have to disagree. While I understand not wanting to put it on an expensive car, but in my opinion it makes the car look better. There is no denying that my grille looks better now that I did it. It had a grey color on it that existed no where else on the car. Took me a couple hours and it looks much better. Also if I change my mind I can remove it.

Just because it is used on other cars by younger people doesn't make it a viable alternative for us getting expensive paint jobs on minor parts. It works great and can be done at home by the owner. Would I do my entire LS with it? No, but for certain parts it works fantastically.

So what you're saying is, I should remove the emblems, take them to a paint shop and spend hundreds of dollars to get the same effect.....because .....well....this is where I lose your logic.
