Another option that would be awesome...the factory setting for the "auto" climate control only blows air out of the top vents. It would be nice to have the option to set climate to auto and get air out of the dash and floor at the same time.

I don't think there is such an option. The "auto" mode is supposed to decide where to blow the air from. I think it does different things depending on whether it's blowing cold or hot air... and maybe depending on other conditions as well, I don't know.

Cool

One more thing I should mention is that when krypto89 started this thread and did his original review, we were running our introductory promotional pricing on the Pro Package ($9.99). Along with last week's release of v2.1, we've ended the introductory pricing and the Pro Package now costs $19.99. (I gave clublexus members a heads-up in advance here).

Sorry
But think of it this way: it's still way cheaper than going to a dealer ONCE

Mr. C,

Please review posts in this 4GS thread (especially ones by me regarding LS460) and respond with Carista's treatments of 2013 LS460 AC parameters. In particular, where does Carista get its descriptions of settings from? Lexus manuals, Lexus Settings Worksheets, Lexus Customization Screens, etc.? Can you help specifically with Efficient Ventilation Mode, AC Auto ON/OFF, and/or Automatic vs. Manual Air Intake Mode Selection? Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

BTW, I really enjoy the Carista app and its ability to make "dealer" changes in my LS460 at will. I find myself trying out different combinations of settings for a while just to see how well they fit my "sense" of the car and how it SHOULD operate. I can't imagine the expense associated with my "experiments" if I had to go to my Lexus dealer every time I wanted to make a change. Thanks a ton for your system!

Thanks for the kind words

The descriptions of the settings in Carista were created by us, based on what we think each setting does, as per lots of different sources and our own testing. But there are some settings for which the sources were kind of vague and imprecise... so some of our descriptions are a bit vague too. If you have suggestions for better naming, I'm all ears

I'll reply in that GS thread as well.

OK, let's get down to cases and figure these things out.

Rather than have me transcribe all the current Carista descriptions for the AC settings relevant to my 2013 LS460, could you please post them? Surely you have them in text format somewhere handy. Then, I'll be happy to go through them and let you know which descriptions are vague, non-performing, or in error to the best of my ability. I look forward to hearing from you.

Great, I would love to do that! I don't have a list from a 2013 LS460. I do have one from a Canadian model 2008 LS460... but I think that's a bit different. But luckily, Carista can generate and email that list easily. So I wanna ask you for 2 favors next time you've got Carista connected to your car:
1. Go into CUSTOMIZE and when you get to the screen with the categories (door locks, lights, etc.), use the "E-MAIL CURRENT VALUES" button to email yourself (or me - [EDITED] support@caristaapp.com) the list of settings that are available to your car.
2. Open the slide-out menu from the left of the screen and tap on the text that says "Version 2.1" five times. It won't look like anything is happening, but after 5 taps, a menu should pop up. Choose "Collect debug data" from that menu, wait for the operation to complete (will take a few minutes) and then follow the prompts to send a report.

This "collect debug data" thing will allow me to look in detail into the settings supported by your car (including ones that we don't have in Carista yet - this will help us add them in the next version of the app).

I'd really appreciate your help with this. As you guys can see, Carista is under active development, so user input at this point can make a huge difference for the upcoming versions. Thanks!

Current Values emailed to [EDITED] support@caristaapp.com. (also attached below)
Debug Data collected and report sent to you from within Carista Android app.

Please feel free to PM or email me for any personal or sensitive info we need to exchange. I would ask that all non-sensitive info be placed here in this thread so others may see what the Carista app can do, what its limitations are, and how the Carista organization handles user issues in general and mine in particular. Thanks for your help.

Thank you very much for doing this!
Oops, I messed up my own email address! It's actually support@caristaapp.com - sorry about that... I was typing on a phone.

But in any case, I can see your PDF, so you don't have to email them again. I'm fine with discussing everything here in this thread. Do you mind if I paste the list from your PDF in plain text here in the thread? Then we can talk about each setting, or at least the ones that are confusing or vague. Again, thanks for doing this. Hopefully, this exercise will be useful both to us and to the community.

You have my permission to post and/or discuss ANY of my 2013 LS460 settings here.

P.S. I will send you the PDF to the revised email address so you have mine on record should you need it.

OK, let's start with Heater & A/C Settings.

Heater & A/C:

Temperature dial calibration
-2°C / -1°C / *NORMAL* / +1°C / +2°C

HUH? And in Celsius to boot?

Ambient temperature calibration
-3°C / -2°C / -1°C / *NORMAL* / +1°C / +2°C / +3°C

Same as above.

A/C evaporator control
*AUTOMATIC* / MANUAL

HUH? "evaporator control" - whazzat?

A/C ECO mode
*ENABLED* / DISABLED

Better would be: A/C limited by ECO Mode.

Auto-increase blower speed when front defroster is on
*YES* / NO

Beautifully clear.

Auto-turn on A/C when AUTO button pressed (if needed)
*YES* / NO

HUH? No idea what this is, does, or doesn't.

Deactivate front defroster when AUTO button pressed
*YES* / NO

Beautifully clear.

Also blow to feet in face mode
*YES* / NO

Beautifully clear.

Auto-activate steering-wheel heater
YES / *NO*

Better would be: Steering-wheel heater under HVAC control

Steering-wheel heater activation threshold
MUCH WARMER / WARMER / *NORMAL* / COLDER / MUCH COLDER

Unclear as to what this means; can it be rephrased for clarity?
