My dealer would not change mine so I brought it to one of the best transmission shops in town. They warned me to never change the fluid, never. They had experience with failed transmissions and stopped changing out the fluid in Lexus cars. One customer insisted and the appropriate liability waiver was signed. Lexus fluid was used. 2 months and less than 5,000 miles the trans failed.

I never heard of a fluid lasting forever but I know these guys and trust what they say. Also the fluid has characteristics of a hydraulic fluid rather than a trans fluid.
