Default Steering wheel auto away

If I understand the manual the "Steering wheel auto away and return function"
can only be turned off by the dealer. Is this right?

What do most of you do? Seems nice to have. But also could be a lot of wear and tear on the two motors to do this.
Is it worth it.

I use it. It came with my car. I pay to have a car with all the bells and whistles, and I use them. Makes no sense to pay for a car of this caliber to only turn off things that make it such a great car.

When you shut off the car, the steering wheel retracts and raises so you can get out without hitting your legs on the steering wheel.

Standard equipment on Crown Vics and Caprice Classics (and most other US "boats"). Not sure why Lexus considered it necessary on the LS. Surely they weren't targeting the Crown Vic and Caprice demographic???

The dealer can turn it off or you can buy the Toyota Techstream software on E-Bay for $30-$40. I have a copy and was able to turn this feature off using it.

Checked ebay but not sure what I am looking at. I have a 2011 LS sport.
Do I need a cable? 16 pin or 22 pin?
Are the instructions easy?

Thanks for any help
