When I was looking at CPO/used LS460s I saw that crack on a few cars I looked at.

Stuff like this happens from time to time. On the LS400 and LS430 it was cracks in the steering wheel wood. That part is subjected to a lot of UV rays, heat, hot/cold from the AC.

No big deal...it's getting older you have to prepare yourself that little things like this May break

I purchased my 1992 SC400 new in Dec 1991. My louver developed a similar crack within a few months. It was replaced under warranty of course, and it never developed another crack. The car was totaled in an accident early this year. In this case age make no difference in the cracking.

Same thing on my 07 LS. I am thinking about buying the part and taking it to a stereo shop to install. I will let you know how much....

That's one expensive part (nearly $400). See if you can get Lexus to supply the part and then take it to a stereo store.

Unhappy The break shown in the picture looks just like mine

I had, and now have again, the identical break. I spent some time using many shims to super glue the first break back into alignment. The glue up worked well for a year and wasn't noticeable unless you knew where to look. I noticed the other day that it has broken again as if I never fixed it.

This appears to me to be a stress point in the design and might imply that the bezel had to be forced into alignment a bit during manufacture.

This also seems consistent with my other 2007 model year disappointments.

The dealer isnt going to give you the part and let you take it somewhere else to have it installed, nor will they just give you money. If you want them to give you the part, you will have to pay them to install it. That's how they can help you out without it costing them.

I can't think of a stereo shop that I would allow them to do anything inside my LS. Best Buy inside my car? Never!

Default My 2008 SWB Did the Same Yesterday....Frustrating

I know this thread is older, but I guess with it being so hot it has occurred in my 2008. I will replace it soon, for I do want to sell this shortly. Has anyone else come up with a better fix or solution to this besides replace the entire bezel? I am very handy, so I will take apart what is necessary Thanks

Check my most recent post on this. I received a letter a couple of days ago and I believe Lexus is covering this under an extended warranty of sorts.

How bizarre. Today went to grocery store was a sunny mild day. Came out an hour or so later. And what do I see. That crack in the same spot! Also my dash had that shiny and sticky appearance.

Well I knew the dash would get that way at times. Tried some cleaners and seemed to help till today in the sun.

I read Lexus last year extended some warranty on the dash. Will check with them on Monday.

See what happens.

Wow, mine cracked out of no where in almost the exact same spot. Maybe I'll try Lexus to see what they'll say

What year is yours? Odd after 9+ years on a somewhat mild day this happens. I think when the dash started to shine it must have flexed or pulled the trim just enough to crack it.

Where in KS are you?
