Default Looking at LS460, is there a year to avoid?

I've searched the sticky's and the done a search in the forums and don't see this noted (but have done general google searches) and have found that people recommend not getting the 2007 ls460.

There seems to be quite a few 2007 models on the market, maybe for this reason?

Thanks!

There's not really any years to avoid. Like any used car, it's well worth it to get the newest, nicest one you can afford.

You will see lots more "07's for two reasons. These cars are getting old enough and cheap enough that they are changing owners more often now. The other, bigger reason is the sheer number of '07's sold in the US. According to Wikipedia it breaks down like this:

2007 35,226
2008 20,255
2009 11,334
2010 12,275
2011 9,568
2012 8,345
2013 10,927

Gotcha...

Do all the LWB vehicles have air suspension? I like the LWB car but want to avoid the Air suspension (when they fail, they are usually expensive to repair/replace). In the midwest rustbelt the winter salt takes its toll heavily on all cars...

If I lived in FL with the lovely weather year round I'd get it. Southern cars live the pampered life. Rust belt cars are assulted for 7-8 months with Salt to keep the snow/ice off the roads. I'm sure that would hasten the demise of the air suspension components...

Yep, I was reading thru it but missed the one you linked. I did use the search function (as an experienced forum user) and probably didn't grab the right search terms.

Just trying to do my due diligence before I get another (second DD) car. Went with 'my gut' on a couple of European vehicles before (2 x Saab 9-5) and ended up paying out $1000 every couple of months in repairs.... Got rid of those and went with a Honda Odyssey (great family hauler) with no repair expenses (other than normal wear and tear) that I researched the heck out of...

"Years to avoid" is a Mercedes Benz thing... The LS cars of any year are pretty much rock solid if their maintenance has been done as usual.

Can you get a platinum warranty on an 07 that is not purchased from a dealer? Looking at an 07 with 38k miles from Arizona.

Possibly considering a 2009 with 44k and awd. But it'd 4 grand more than the 07.
