On the few factory spoilers I have seen on cars none of those were installed with just 3m tape. They were bolted to the trunk. I would worry a bit about it coming off on the interstate and causing an accident. Of course then getting sued and insurance not covering it since it was and aftermarket item.
The one I was looking at a few months back had a disclaimer that they be bolted on the car for liability reasons. This was just to cover them because there was no way to do it with that brand and it came with just the 3m tape.

I know some other Lexus models came with trunk lips. Like the first IS300. Does anyone know if that came from the factory with 3m tape or was it bolted on?

If it was tape it would make me feel safe with doing it the same way.
I had a 2001 C5 Vette that I had put a rear spoiler on that was held in place with 3M double sided acrylic tape. That car had seen over 160+ mph many times and that spoiler held in like a champ.

If installed properly, you'll have no problems. Also, if you want to test to see how well the spoiler will stay on, you should try and take one off. I have and you'll have nothing to worry about. That tape is some sticky stuff, after all 3m makes some of the best adhesives available.

In my case, it's the spoiler that doesn't fit right, but the tape is fine.

it is, after all, automotive 3m tape, which is what's used to hold on all the fake hood scoops on mustangs etc.
Peteybabes, can you Please share a little more about the epoxy that you use and how you use it?

I wouldn't mind cleaning up the look of our spoiler too.

Thanks
