Any issues with running 235/55r18 tires?
HI everyone,
I am in need of some new rubber and can get four 235/55r18 Michelin Premier A/S tires for just under $900 installed. This seems like a good price and the tires appear to have good reviews but the sidewall is 55 rather than 50 (these tires aren't available in a size 50).
So what would be the consequences (aside from throwing off the speedo) of running these tires?
It's either the Premiers in 235/55r18 or Primacy MXM4s in 235/50r18 for about $50 less.
Thanks

I like the Primacy MXM in the correct size(!) Also worth consideration is the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. The 55 series tires may have a slightly plusher ride at the expense of braking and cornering. I doubt you'll notice it though. Others on this forum have gone to the 55 series tire with (apparently) no fouling of the suspension or wheel arch.

williakz: Thanks for the heads up.
I decided to go for the MXMs since they are low rolling resistance and will give me slightly better MPGs. I drive a lot so maybe over the life of the tire that will translate into slight savings.
