Class Action Lawsuit... Settlement Check..
Has anyone else received a settlement check from Toyota Economic Loss Settlement Administrator? It refers to Case # 8:10ML2151 JVS (FMOx).
I had no idea about the class action suit and I'm curious if there are any repairs that need to be done to the car that may be voided if I cash this check. Granted it's only $20.91 so any damage couldn't possibly be repaired for this price so I am just curious as to any obligation Toyota would be released from if I cash the check.
It says to reference a site www.ToyotaELsettlement.com but the isn't pulling up currently.

It would seem they gave every owner during the time period of 2002-2010 a check.
The odd thing about it is that my friend owned a 2003 MRS that did not have the throttle by wire system and he received the same check for $20.
Some of these class action lawsuits are BS and they are usually instigated by ambulance chasing lawyers that are looking though the fine details so they can be awarded a big sum and everyone else pennies on the dollar.
I believe this case was won because of a technicality of wording. You can bet that those that received the check are going to make everyone else $100 in the hole when it comes time to price out the next car.

BTW: the law firm that sued Toyota apparently won a $1.6B dollar settlement. They got $275M for their efforts.

It seems like so many of these class action lawsuits are just legalized extortion by law firms. The "poor suffering victims" get peanuts (which I consider $20.91 to be) while the law firm rakes in multi millions.
I have received maybe 6 to 8 of these over the years. I refuse to participate in them and opt out. Although I think once I did get a small check for something.

Seems you didn't even have to choose to participate. I just received a settlement check also. How they managed to include owners of the LS is a mystery to me. Suspect that the lawyers just included everything with a Lexus labet on it to boost the settlement. Justice has nothing to do with how they operate. Disgusting.
