My mom bought a '13 last December. It didn't have ML and stickered at $76,500. The dealer in Austin sold it for $68,500. I think a 2014 for $67k is a very good deal. My '07 LS (bought from mom) has ML. It does sound better than mom's '13 but hers isn't bad. I make regular trips from Austin to Ruidoso NM, about 590 miles. Sometimes I stop in Midland and we'll drive moms '13 on to Ruidoso, 290 miles. While not overtly sporty, these cars are surprisingly capable. The comfort, quiet and great directional stability combine to make short work of a long trip.

These cars at first seem a bit softly sprung and slow responding. Nothing about them encourages aggressive driving. It took me about 4,000 miles to "become one" with a 460. I have found it to be so good at what it is designed to do that I like these cars better the longer I own mine. I got all the high speed sporty stuff out of my system with an '08 CBR1000.

The car is a total pain in the *** to drive in low speed stop-and-go traffic, which is my daily commute. When I drive my wife's GS the smoothness and refinement of the car is immediately noticeable. Heck, our GS has a far better suspension in terms of both ride and handling than my 550.
I don't have any real world experience with the 550 but I can understand your frustration with runflat tires. I just think it is best to test drive any LS 460 to get a good idea if this is the car for you before you entertain pricing because it is a very different car than the BMW. You may find that you like the GS better. The LS ride can be numb depending on what you're used to but I was willing to except the trade off because it is a very comfortable car especially on long drives and In traffic. You may feel the same way also and it might be in the car for you.

I've never bought a used car in my life and not starting now. I need to check my list, but I think my next will be my 60th four wheel vehicle.

I have three bikes, a 2013 BMW 1600GT, 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and a 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale.

I have driven a 2014 LS, but at the time it was not in my head that I might consider one so I was not being very concerned about the aspects of the car. I freely admit that something faster appeals to me with at least decent suspension control. But as I said, I really just commute in Houston with it. I had three cars for many years (meaning mine, my wife's and a fun car). My last was a 2009 Z06 Corvette. But I usually ride two of the bikes every weekend a total of nearly 500 miles a weekend, so the fun car was sitting a lot. I'm a believer in the right tool for the job, and being honest about it, the LS may be just that.

You will find that the LS is focused primarily on luxury which is how it should be. Too often people want everything in one car but that ends up being full of compromises and disappointment. It's better to split it up in two cars.

Yeah I'm not a used car person either, plus I lease for business and you can't lease a used car.
