To me, 120k is by no means high mileage and for a Japanese V8, this still a very safe and reliable distance. I've recently purchased my 07 LS460 with 116k and as long as it looks like the car was taken care of, I have no doubt that it will go on for at least double that without any major problems. Having had over 30 personal cars, from my experience, not the same can be said about all makes across.
My advice to you, would be to take the VIN and register it on the Lexus website, I believe it's "My Lexus", or something like that, and you'll have a complete history of repairs on the car, as long as it was done at a Lexus dealership.
If you're looking to get a stereotypical sense of who was driving it, look through the radio HD or preset stations, for previous owner's songs. Mine had a great deal of opera, Bob Dylan - pretty sure this owner wasn't drag racing it. Not the most precise way, but that's kind of my thing (Bob Dylan is the man, by the way).
Look for wear on plastics, seats etc. Also, take it for a test drive and bang through the gears a bit to check for sluggishness, which some members on here have experienced.
Some minor repairs and the usual maintenance should be expected. Also check to see which recalls have been done and which are outstanding.
Lastly, I'm not sure how the market is in Hawaii, but I'd definitely go in there and haggle quite a bit. At least get it down to low $18k range.
I'm sure others will chime in with more experienced advice as well.
Good luck!

They're pretty reliable cars...a couple thing s you should look out for are the control arm bushings and the brake actuator.

Also make sure the recalls were done, other than that these things are known for going mileage much higher than that.

I think one factor none of us can account for is that you are in Hawaii so the prices that we are used to in the Lower 48 wouldn't necessarily carry over to HI. Here in Texas, 07 LS460s are in the $17k-$19k range so the asking price is within the range, assuming there is some wiggle room in the asking price of your vehicle. Shoot for $17.5k or $18k and think that would be a solid buy, once the history/maintenance checks out.

I wouldn't hesitate in the least. FWIW, there are members with 200k mile+ and 300k miles+ here at CL. No major issues in either one.

Pay for an inspection. If the dealer does not have any service history then no warranty work has been done. Sounds like a pass to me. Single owner with documented history is the way to go. It could be a good car but you need to be vigilant without a service history. If the car was already registered then you won't be able to see it online. Call or visit a dealer with the vin.

Absolutely take the car to a Lexus dealer, pay the $125 or so for a complete inspection and know what you are getting. it would be the same thing as buying a home and hiring an inspector to look for things before you close the deal.

Nothing wrong with the mileage. The car can go on and on. As mentioned, there are important things that will be a repairing nightmare if you're not careful. That's why you need the inspection.

On the other hand, if you went to Lexus Drivers, typed in the vin and there is NO history, that's a problem. there has to be some record of the car's inception along with the initial services at the dealership before the first sale. Did you go to service history?

Good luck on your decision.
