The 2009 Escalade has the 2nd-generation Magneride, which is quite a downgrade from the 3rd generation in the cars I mentioned. It's also a big SUV, so it will never ride the same as a C7 or a ZR1 and the system won't be tuned the same way.

It doesn't have to be tuned the same way but it should make a difference which it did not but
I'm open to driving the new one to see if it does.
If the system works well for GM then that's great. The corvettes of the last 10 years are pronominal cars in just about every aspect of weekend racing.

While it might not cover shocks it might cover struts. Clarify that point. But my preference is for the Lexus platinum coverage or a CPO car.

I am also surprised by how many of you say you can't tell the difference between sport and comfort settings on the LS. Sure it doesn't turn a boat into a track car, but there is a distinct and noticeable difference in each of the 3 settings.

With the air suspension they are always shocks, not struts. I thought on the 430 and 460 regular suspension Lexus uses shocks not struts. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure struts are not used.

The major difference between shocks and struts is that a strut is a structural part of the vehicles suspension system where a shock is not. A strut is also crucial part of the vehicles steering system and greatly affects alignment angles. Camber and caster angles are usually adjusted right on the strut itself. A strut is also a pivot point for the vehicles steering system and contains a coil spring. Because of this an alignment is always needed when replacing a strut. This is also the reason that struts are typically more expensive than shocks.

I could tell the suspension modes in the LS with air, I'd just never use them. Never used the AVS in the GS.

Default I'm in the same situation

I plan to buy a 2007 460L in the next month or so. I don't see where there are too many problems in 100K mile cars, but I sure don't want a big repair bill just for a comfy ride.

My GX and LS both have air suspension. I could easily feel/tell the difference between all three settings. When I was in the market for LS, I was looking for air suspension among other things in spite of having air suspension work done on GX under warranty. I really enjoy air suspension on LS in highways, turn on ML and enjoy best of both world while on motion !!!
