That would conflict with the "Factory Maintenance Schedule" of the earlier cars. If Lexus is really saying this, they should notify owners or have a bulletin of some kind that can be accessed freely on their website. Toyota/Lexus didn't start the 10,000 mile synthetic oil change on 2010 and later models until late 2010/2011. I've seen nothing on 2009 and earlier models; They were pretty firm that 5,000 miles was the limit (probably because of their roasting ove sludge buildup).

Our 2010 Prius came with dino oil and a 5,000 mile OCI. We got a notification in the mail from Toyota in late 2010 that we could switch to full synthetic and 10000 mile oil changes. Our '99, '05 and 08 cars are all on dino oil with 5,000 mile OCI as we have received nothing from the manufacturer to the contrary.

You are correct Keith. And if Toyota is telling him otherwise, he'd better get it in writing, or provide an updated info sticker to place in the maintenance manual (I've seen that before).

both Blackstone and a real lab.
Could you share with us what a "real lab" is? I've had good luck with Blackstone for nearly 20 years, and if there's something I'm missing, I'd love to know!

post #27 has the UOA and #37 has the response to what Blackstone missed. Post #130 has a Tribologik report vs. a Blackstone report of the same sample, don't bother with Tribologik's system. Post #138 is another UOA from Blackstone, originally stating that the engine sheers oil but that's ok. I guess op had deleted the post of #131 on the original Blackstone Report.

Then I'll post this

and listen to this while you read it........

Wow! That's huge. Definitely not available at Walmarts here in Canada. Which is fine, since I get mine at my dealership in bulk for about $6/qt (with the US/CDN exchange thats about the same price).
