Mostly the problem is 1) getting the certification letter from the manufacturer and 2) paying the customs duty, on top of whatever use tax you have to pay in the state where you're registering the car. Some cars may also need to have the instrument panel changed out.

Hmm. Thinking of pulling the plug.

2007 ls460 60k. Fav color option. Navi and mark Levi.
$21699
Good price. I recommend making the sale contingent on a pre-purchase inspection that you are satisfied with, your own visual inspection, and you test driving it. Drive on freeways, local streets, rough pavement, smooth pavement, etc. make sure all recalls have been done. Get documentation for any work the dealer has done to the car, such as tires, battery, brakes (pads and rotors), and so on.

Make sure you get all the sales terms, including price, in writing from the dealer.

ETA: Pricing should show the OTD price as well as the breakdown, car, tax license, and fees. Dealer documentation fees tend to be " junk fees". Let the dealer take their profit through the sales price, not their add-one. Sorry if you knew this already.

Read thru all service history. This is well maintained car. All services were done at lexus dealer and this is 1 owner. Also resolved many issues like wind noise and fuel injector etc. All recalls were done.

Autonation has strict rule. They won't waive that dealer fee. I tried and tried and but no way. They won't discount to 21k to offset their 699 dealer fee.
I knew they were junk fees but at least got 1k off their low selling price.
Unfortunately I'm in ca and car is in Florida. I made sale contingent on lexus dealer inspection.

Make sure to check the water pump (remove engine covers and check for pink residue near the tensioner pulley area-fyi-easy fix though), remainder on pads, CA bushings, check brakes for possible faulty actuator...just to have an idea as to what you may have to spend, if anything, on repairs/fixes.
Did lexus inspection and result came out excellent. Only issue is front upper arm bushing is starting to wear but still has decent life left. I asked my mechanic and he said less than $500 to fix it. I know others paid 1000 plus.
Water pump was replaced 3 months ago. Brakes are great.
It's a deal. Working out payment details.

Well congratulations. Looks like you did your homework so I hope it pays off. Over the next few weeks, it's so fun just drive somewhere enjoying the ride

If you have the cash In hand and buying the car out right, maybe a fair deal. But if I had that cash, I would be looking for something a bit newer. If you are taking out a loan, the picture at the end of loan , 4-6 year, doesn't look good. Just paid off a 15 year old car with possible 200,000 miles. And don't forget money for repairs, they will happen, and on a $80k car they will cost. Maybe this is just me, I don't think this is a great long term plan, especially if you are financing.
I bought my LS430 ('04, 75k miles then) in 2012 when it was 8 years old. Still have a year and change left on the note and have absolutely no regrets. I've fixed control arm bushings. That's it. Every.Single.Thing works like or near new. Car is solid as a rock and easily has another decade left and at least 150-200k more miles. It's old, but I can still pull a rank on 85% of cars at stoplights!

Just food for thought! GL to OP either way!

I got my dad a 2004 LS430 fully loaded with 59k miles for $19k in 2010. So far there has been zero repairs. Just usual oil change and maintenance. Car now has over 100k.
This is why I'm buying 07 ls460 for 21k.

It depends on the warranty. Is it exclusionary (the best type IMO)? If so, what are the exclusions? What's the deductible? Will the warranty pay for OEM parts? Is the purchase price refundable if no use/pro-rated back if some use, and so on. I'm no expert, but 1500 sounds reasonable if the above criteria are met and the coverage is excellent.

Likely pricing of an extended warranty is in part based on reliability.

My question is do you really need an extended warranty which won't cover maintenance?

Ah, I see what you mean. Opinions vary. Some repairs can prove expensive if done through the dealer who will use OEM parts and will probably have a relatively high labor rate.

Do you plan on doing most repairs yourself? Are you OK with using an independent and possibly after-market parts? How long do you plan on keeping the car? Of course, you have to guess the best you can on the degree of risk of an expensive repair or repairs for your car, and evaluate all this versus getting an extended warranty.

Do you have a link? It is very cheap for 2008. What is overall condition? Salvage? Accidents? Need more info.
