Talking Newly acquired 2007 LS460L

Long time lurker, new owner here. Bought a 460L over the weekend from a family friend with only 36k miles. It's loaded with every option other than the Executive Package.

The air suspension and control arm issues really worried me, but after searching solutions on this forum and having the car inspected, I was greatly relieved. Only issue was warped rotors, which is not surprising considering the former owner was 86 & rode the brakes down the Appalachians. Still budgeting on replacing both main issues at around 50k just to be safe.

The community here appears extremely supportive for the most part. I'm excited to be a part of it! You guys know more than most dealers and shops.

Congrats and welcome!

Driving style would not have made any difference. Lexus rotors are notorious warpers. The only way to get around it is to use Bendix, Wagmer or other quality aftermarket rotor. They're inexpensive too.

Congrats on your '07 LS 460L. I had my rotors replaced at the Toyota dealership.

Ahh!! This is awesome!
Another member to the LS club!
Congratulations to you and of course, welcome!!
Sounds like you got a really low mileage car that's in great shape-even better!
To slightly mirror what Roadfrog said, I think the brakes are one of the easiest things to address on this car.
I don't know if your a DIY guy or not, and I've said this before, but I did my brakes-all around, pads and rotors, and it was my very first brake job on any car.
Its that straight forward.
Congrats once again, and of course, post a few pics! We'd love to see the new wheels!

Sure wish I didn't have the rotors resurfaced this weekend. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely replace next time, which will probably be sooner than later.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

The car is overall in amazing mechanical shape. I have every service record and couldn't ask for anything better.

Cosmetically, she definitely needs some help. The previous owner pulled over a tall concrete parking partition and scratched/dented the front bumper. He also backed into his other Lexus and has some scuffs on the rear bumper. I need to either replace the front bumper or have it repaired. Never had this issue, so not sure which way to go. The rear can probably be buffed out. Leather needs some conditioning too. I grew up in a high-end furniture factory and unkempt leather drives me nuts. It's not bad by any means, but I'll have to address it. A good clay bar treatment and detailing are in order as well.
No pics until she's all better!

I am not a DIY guy. In fact, my wife would laugh and my kids would tremble with fear if I told them I was going outside to work on the car. I would love to learn, but 4 kids and a demanding job don't leave much time for this. I've thought about taking some classes at the local CC just to learn the basics.

Welcome to CL. Congrats on the new car and I wish you good luck with it.

So now you can stop being a lurker.

Nice! Love the color! OK....actually I HATE the color (my car's the same) LOL. I hate it for the work it makes for me.....always polishing out the little scratches and spider webbing....etc. But she sure is purty when she's freshly detailed.
