Looking at 07 - 08 Other than space, why go "L"?
I was wondering if the L versions had any little luxury extras. I do notice that L models usually have the Levinson and Nav systems. I don't think I've seen a "base" 460L.
There's about a 1k premium, which I already think is worth it for the extra legroom in the back.
Can you guys give me a little "pro-con" for the 460L vs the regular?
I can tell you that I don't care about mileage and as far as length, I drove a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner around for 12 years (on weekends) so the 460L would have to grow about another foot for the length to be an issue.

The L gets you the double pane glass for the door windows. Makes for a nice quiet ride. L is harder to find but boy is it amazing to drive. Just even more special than the swb models

After a certain year the SWB cars get the double paned glass as well. Mine has double paned glass.
I didn't go for the L because it makes an already really big car unwillingly big IMHO, and it would not have fit in my garage.

I can't remember now exactly what they were, but there were some interior enhancements with the L over the base model. In my case it wasn't anything I cared for and I didn't need the extra rear seat space since I rarely have back seat passengers.
Whichever model you decide to get, I would recommend the ML and Nav options as being preferable.

I have double pane glass in my 2007 SWB. The L gives you the opportunity to get the Executive Seating package if you can find one. They are like unicorns though.

According to my 07 brochure, the L was the only way to get the Luxury Package:
Semi-aniline leather trimmed interior
Climate comfort rear seats
Power rear seats
Ecsaine headliner
Rear seat side airbags
Rear Seat Upgrade Package:
Four Zone auto climate w interior air filter, smog sensor and auto recirc.
Rear seat air purifier
Rear seat audio controls
Rear seat cool box
Power rear door shades
Executive Package:
Everything in the previous two packages plus
Four person seating
Rear seat infrared temp sensor
Power recliner with multi function massager and leg rest
Rear seat wood trim table
DVD rear seat system
Touring package:
19X8 wheels
VGRS
AVS
High friction brakes with larger rotors
Individual options for the L only:
AVS and VGRS
ML sound system with HDD
HDD Nav system (standard on the L)
Advanced parking system
Power door closers and rear trunk (standard on L)
For what it's worth I love my L. I'm currently house shopping so...testing it in any garage is a must.

I for one wasn't interested in getting a mini limo. I have loads of legroom in the back. Plus it wouldn't fit in my garage. I love the look and size of my 08 SWB. Definitely get the ML and nav. You'll be glad you did.

When money gets tight or you are out of work it can be an UBER car that offers rides for super tall passengers who want a luxury experience.
BTW! The ride in a L is a ultra quiet smooth ride....... Just make sure it fits in your garage.

UberLux Miami requirements:
2010 MODEL OR NEWER (LISTED BELOW), 4-DOOR, AT LEAST 5 SEAT BELTS, MID-SIZE OR FULL-SIZE, EXCELLENT CONDITION, LEATHER INTERIOR.
So technically a LS460 with the executive seating package does not qualify, since it does not have five seat belts.

I personally like the look of the longer L better, more imposing and has more presence, but too long IMHO.

I have double pane Windows also, had them tinted and the door panel ripped the tint up in the corner. Gotta go back to the tint shop and see what they can do.
