Carpets with salt stains can be cleaned with a 50/50 mix of warm water and vinegar. Mix it up and spray on carpet then "blot it up" with a clean terry cloth towel....... Do not rub into the carpet. Let carpet dry (out of car because of the smell) and repeat if necessary. You can also speed up the drying by using a shop vac or fan on the wet area.
