Troll.
However, for many, "louder" = they can hear distortion
My ML system plays blues and funk as loud as I can stand it and the sound is still clear as a bell.
I'm good with that.
I have all of my MP3 files converted to at least 192 kbps, and a large percentage to 320. I also use an old Sansa Clip+, which allows fine control of equalizer settings, if need be.
I play my music quite loudly most of the time, am not yet deaf at age 49, but I'm tryin'! The ML system blows away any factory system I've ever heard, and honestly, if you need it past MAX, you're in some absurd competition or are deaf.

Try getting music from h d t r a c k s . com or p o n o . com
Sample rate 192K at 24Bit. The files are large but oh...sounds so good.
I'm not a fan of mp3 at all. I have a Pono and Fiio players for playing these files.

Best solution to me would be to add a JL Cleansweep and add a subwoofer. While the bass is surprisingly decent for an OEM, it does not compare to a quality aftermarket one. At a good car stereo shop, they should be able to mount it in a manner that all but hides the thing and the difference would be huge.

I really don't want to pay to go much lower than the ML sub, as I would never hear it. Speakers can go lower than human hearing. I play electric bass through a speaker cab ported at 43 Hz, but use a High Pass Filter to keep out anything lower than 75 Hz. The EQ on my system is zero on bass, yet my FOH guy is always telling me to 'cut the bass.' What you hear isn't the actual note, but the overtones. Same in a vehicle. But it's his money and he can change his speakers. I don't see that the investment is worth the small amount of gain. Just my two cents worth. FWIW See if you can find a recording of Flim and the BBs playing "Bicycle." The droid bass on that track goes down to about 25 Hz and that was as low as a CD back then (1990) could handle. In a good system that low note will shake your windows.

ML speakers blown, how to replace or fix
Greetings:
I'm not sure what the original owner could have done to these speakers, but they sound horribly blown and distorted.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to acquire the sound as it was meant to be?
* I keep hearing about how great the sound system is, but unfortunately I have never experienced it.
By the way, this is for my 2005 Lexus SC 430.
