Crazy! Maybe too bad mine is out of warranty. I will mention that to them when I take it in.

Double check the door jamb switches (that turn the interior lights on and off). If they are flaky they will screw with the signaling system and the door won't close. I had the soft close not work on one of my doors until I realized that the switch was sticking. I ended up replacing 2 of them on my car; they are $20 a pop at the dealer and you can replace it yourself with a screw driver and 5 min of patience.

The soft close motors on my LS430 are 15 years old and still work; so they seem to be fairly long lived.

I think you have made a very good call as to the possibility that defective doorjamb switches may cause the door-closers to not work. Defective doorjamb switches are very common on these cars and cause lots of problems.

We have discussed the defective doorjamb switches in several threads in our forum. Here is a link to a thread that might be helpful:

Yeah i read that post. I tried mine and it all worked fine. I am taking it to the local dealer next thursday. See what they find. No big loss if i can't fix it on the cheap.

Bigger things to fix like new struts and some front control arms.

The switches don't fail outright but the rubber parts disintegrate and they stick together. I think when the door closes they stick closed and then the system thinks you've slammed the door. It's an irritating glitch on such an expensive car.

All I know is replacing mine fixed the issue; you could swap a switch from a known good door and see if that resolves the issue.

Good luck!

I will do that tonight. I found this on online the other day and i tried it on all the doors. The passenger side pulled in like to soft close but the drivers side doors didn't.

Just thought i would share this here.

At the dealership. Has to be the door actuator. Fuses good and switch good. Guess I will just let it go or find replacements on eBay and do it myself.
