I keep Googling and there's still nothing. Other than the obvious FC, which frankly I don't think will be it, not one peep on the web anywhere.
Even though I only had my car for five months, I'm thinking and looking long-term and if the new one will fit in my garage and, just as importantly, appeals to me, I may move towards that model.
Come on Lexus, show us already.

Still a top secret and only a few concept photos Can't wait to see the real next generation LS.

They kept the LC500 under wraps for almost 3 years; those shots surfaced less than a year before that car's debut. I'm guessing also since they share a platform much of the engineering has been done under the guise of the LC500 so less LS 500 prototypes are on the road.
This is the only shot I've seen; of course it tells us nothing:
So it's coming; the question is just when.
I'd like to think that Lexus still considers the LS an important car, but sales of FS luxury sedans are falling in the US in favor of SUVs; and in most markets in Asia smaller cars (A6 LWB, 328 LWB) are more popular. Lexus badly needs a 3 row crossover to compete with the X7 and GLS, and Toyota has freely admitted that their engineering resources have been stretched a little thin in the past couple years.
But we'll see. I'm hopeful something amazing this way comes.

If the new LS does indeed share the same platform, that would mean a shorter LS?
The LC500's dimensions, according to Wiki, are:
Wheelbase: 113 inches
Length: 187.4 inches
The current LS460 dimensions, according to Wiki, are (LWB in parenthesis):
Wheelbase: 116.9 inches (121.7 inches)
Length: 198-199.2 inches (202.8-203.9 inches)
There's an almost four-inch difference in wheelbase, which is pretty significant in car terms. I wonder if it will share the same engineering platform in pretty much all facets, but just be stretched.

Where is the new LS?
I have a 2007 LS 460 which has been a great car (except for hesitation on acceleration a few years ago at about 50,000 miles which was eventually solved by the dealer).
I did not trade it in for the refreshed LS 460 a few years ago for two reasons:
- I thought Lexus took a beautiful, well conceived design and messed it up with a grill and tail that jarred with the original cohesive design
- the bizarre decision to change the convenient touch screen for the old fashioned and inconvenient mouse.
However, Lexus, we are now going on 10 years and its time to get a new car. Overdue in fact.
With a great new line-up from Mercedes, Audi and BMW, how much longer must I wait for a new LS? The 2017 E-class, which looks like a 7/8 S-class, looks very enticing…….

I'm sure it will be out in 2017, but as a 2018 model. If it were coming out for 2017 model year we would see it already, the new model year comes out in August-September remember.
People who have issues with the spindle grill and or the RTC may as well not even wait to see the new LS. It's going to have a much bolder spindle grill and will of course still have the RTC.

I hope for the 5th Gen, they actually offer more standard features than the 13 model instead of making you buy large packages like Ultra Luxury just to get some rear door shades. For example, the Equus offers a ton more standard options than Lexus does. Yes, I know it's a Hyundai, but why is Lexus so late on having a HUD in the LS???? I mean cmon now. The 7 series added that back in either 2012 or 2013 for the 7 series. Benz as well...and adaptive cruise is way more common in the 7 series and S Class, but finding a 2013 LS with LKA and Radar Cruise buttons is damn near impossible. I've been looking for months and only found 2 in the entire country that even had it.

Yeah, I agree, features like LKA and other driver aids like the radar, adaptive cruise and front collision mitigation should be standard. I would have opted to get those features, but the models available in my area didn't have them.
Hopefully the newer model has them standard or, at the very least, a common package that is actually low enough to be common and the norm and not the exception.

Does Lexus every "skip" production years?
I hope they produce the 2017 LS460 in its current body, and market it as the "grand finale" of the glorious 10-year old LS line (they did something similar for the "grand finale" of the SC430 in 2010).
It would help stave off our depreciation for another year, I suppose...

I think the LS won't come out until 2018, as the 2019 MY. The reasons because:
1. I believe Lexus treated their '13 update as something in-between a refresh and a redesign. To be fair, it was more than just a refresh, only the engine was not changed. So a 6-year cycle model applies here 2013-2017.
2. 2018 will be the launch of the 2018 LC500 and LC500h. Lexus will want all the attention to the LC
3. 2018 will them more time to possibly build a LS Hydrogen as their flagship. That model will top LS600hL
