Default Complicated background but has anyone tried putting a turbo on a 460?

I searched but found only super chargers. I know it won't handle a lot of boost but I'm tearing down the engine and thought I'd give it a shot. Plus I have a set of twins from a supra that need to go in something. Currently sitting at 200k miles. Redoing all suspension as well. Trying to update the front too.

Either that or buy a new one but I really like this boat.

Thanks,
J

I have only seen the HKS supercharger for the LS. I say go for it, and be sure to post pics of the tear down and build.

BUILD THREAD! With or without turbo, a "re-build" thread would interest a lot of people.

I thought there was at least one Supra running a boosted 4.6L around. That could provide some inspiration.

Anything is possible I think. Piping might be difficult, but getting the ecu working in harmony might be the hardest part.

Yes. That is an issue. probably the one I'm most concerned about. Someone at 2k in Texas had success with it so we are trying to get in touch with them. But if it's over a certain number I'm gonna pass. Just because in the past that number has always doubled.

I remember a thread asking about what it would take about a year ago. I also remember that someone knew a shop that would have a look at a ls to see what could be done. No update was ever given though.

TRD makes a supercharger for the 5.7L V8 in the Tundra which is related to the 4.6L V8 which might be worth investigating. I bet the TOMs kit is similar. I wonder how hard it would be to adapt to the 1UR.

Not sure as the compression ratio is already pretty high in our cars how much more that block can take. The 5.7L V8 with supercharger went from about 380 to 500hp; so maybe you're looking at 450ish from the smaller V8.

I still have my trd supercharger from my land cruiser. I don't see how it would work but I'll investigate.
