Yesterday, I heard a loud pop when pulling out my driveway and now as I brake the car vibrates. Local Lexus dealer said that its just rust on the rotors. They said no codes generated in TIS and that they cannot fix the actuator since it seems to be functioning properly. They advised new rotors and brakes would fix the problem. I scoffed at that saying i just had a service A done 2 months ago and was never told about any rust where it shows they were inspected and I had the rotors resuraced and pads changed on both front and back 1.5 years ago at 44k miles and the car now has 55k miles.

I think they are just trying to avoid fixing the Actuator before extended warranty ends this month.

Suggestions? opinions?

where was the pop (front or rear) and where do you park your car? If rear, did you have the parking brake engaged while parked?

Parking brake is not engaged as my driveway is flat, it happened so quick, I would say more to the front

If you park outside and don't drive often then you probably had some surface rust that flashed over the rotors. The "pop" you described is usualy exactly what it sounds like then the rotors get moving again

No not at all, just do a hard brake from 50-20 to clean them off assuming they aren't warped and just lightly rusted.

These cars are known for not so great factory rotors so just be aware of that
