I'd start up a new thread, more eyes on it that way, and 212K miles on a new-to-someone-who-is-not-destitute used car just 20 years ago was almost unheard of...unless it was a diesel Mercedes, and even then, not the 350 SD or SDL.

The Lexus LS460 was a nice car. It had some extreme rock chips in the front area, the side mirrors were re painted ( not the best job) it had oxidized paint on the hood area, and front fenders. Not to bad, from 10ft the car looked pretty good. The wheels were nice with minor curb damage, and overall, the body was straight with no dents or visible damage.


it has some sort of buzzing sound coming from the front right fender or wheel area of the car upon driving it at any speed above 15mph. The tires were new, and all matching Michelin’s. So, I’m thinking it had a bad wheel bearing possibly. Aside from the humming sound it felt very smooth.

the engine looked and ran new, the transmission was like butter.

mechanicly, the car was great.

the dealer didn’t really want to work with me on fixing the weird buzzing/humming sound from the front right it could’ve been a $1,000 repair for all I know, so ultimately we did not buy it.

Dont ask me how I know
1. Replace valve gaskets on both banks to prevent oil leaks
2. you may have to replace high pressure fuel pump gaskets on both banks or use high temp black rtv to block any oil from seeping through
3. Control arm bushings...there is a cheap way to fix this..on Ebay look up PSB ls 460 control arm and sway bar bushings....great product..only $275 and your mechanic can install them very easily
4. Trans engine mount.....Lexus are rock solid smooth when idling...if you hear any vibrations time to replace the trans engine mount
5. Rotors. They are warped, trust me.....just go to ebay and order OEM toyota made lexus rotors...about 100 to 150 each.. Paint the highhat portion with high temp grey paint including vents and inner portion [ body facing] part of the rotor to prevent rust if you live in cold area places....you can resurface the rear rotors and paint them too..

6. Learn to do your own oil change..pretty easy.., brake bleeds, steering pump oil change, diff oil change, and transmission oil dump and filter change...<<<medium difficulty due to no dipstick
7. Constantly wax and keep your paint spotless, clean and condition your leather with Ph neutral products, especially the back head rests which gets the sun all the time
8. garage your car....or better get a 10 layer car cover and garage your car....and lol .....never drive it..[ Driving and using a car over time, is guaranteed to cause problematic issues.] just look and admire at it every time you take your POS real car and drive off..it might be hard though, because of the car cover and garage blocking it...

DIY brake bleeds are not recommended unless you have Techstream.

As for rotors, I would not advise ANYONE to replace the crap Toyota rotors with new crap Toyota rotors. They warp too easily. Far better off going with Centric Premiums or any other Cryo treated rotors.

Also, you mentioned fuel gaskets, but I'm not sure if you're referring to the ones that Lexus has recalled (?)

go to lightstream Lightstream is better than USAA. I just bought a 2007 LS460 with 130K miles and both USAA and Lightstream didn't ask for mileage. Both qualified me for an autoloan. Lightstream is better because they beat USAA's rate and give me another 0.1% off and gave me $100 for taking their survey. You have to ask a survey though.
