Default +12 v switch hardwire Valentine One

Hardwire kit from Amazon $14.99

Tools required 1 philips head 1 small flat head

Remove both plastic caps with small flat head underneath the plastic caps there will be two philips head screws

After removing overhead cover, prying from the end closest to you, it will snap the two plastic caps free from the brackets. There will be a slight snag from the wire harness on both left and right side of overhead cover. Unplug the wire harness directly above you.

White with black stripe- ground Black- +12 v constant- mainly for always on running dash cam Blue- +12 v switch power

Hardwire kit comes in place, place red wire with blue wire (+12 v switch) you could run it with black wire if you have auto off on your radar, black ground will connect with white and black stripe wire

Reconnect the connector check for shortage and power, I ran the phone connector end through small cutout in headliner.

Reinstall overhead cover and replace philips head screws and plastic covers

Connect Valentine One and enjoy! Happy driving.

No problem man, Ive searched the forums and found mix and match answers to hardwiring the V1, just thought I'd be more specific and share some direct photos for you guys. I'll be doing a dash cam connection next

Dash cams are becoming a "must have" nowadays and the only problem I have seen is where to put the "bulky" power plug.

FalconZero has a decent short lead for their hardwire kit but I think its too short, but a little bit of soldering will fix it. I'll post more info on it

Can you lower the sunshade or do you have to remove the V1 first?

It will fold down about 90 degree, anything beyond that it interferes with the sunvisor

For the price of an hardwire kit, its a whole lot better. To have that great field of view, I hate it when there are things hanging down from the windshield blocking your view

Default I did mine the same...

Just an update to this thread, I hard wired my Valentine in the same way as described. Some of the things I really liked were, a) it was inexpensive, b) it was easy, and c) no cutting, stripping or splicing of wires! What I don't like is, that harness is not long enough to run a mirror mount. It won't extend down to just under the mirror. It's probably 3 inches or so too short for that. So, I had extra suction cups so I put new suction cups on it and mounted just like in the write up. This is a very nice mod to do ... if the harness was just a bit longer, it would be even better with a mirror mount. I don't mind the location where it is ... I'm just concerned that at some point the suction cups may let go, and possibly wind up marring the dash if the V1 breaks loose of the wire and lands on the dash.

Default V1 Mod Install Completed

I just did the mod and it is good to go! I have always added this mod to my vehicles and I love it. No cords running in the way of your access to the dash. Looks professionally done. This is the best tutorial I have seen though. I usually have to figure it out on my own! The only thing I did different is I used the black cord that came with my V1 (not the curled one). I did have to figure out the color code because I had already used one of the ends on my other vehicle. Anyway, it worked out great and did not have the problem of the cord being too short (even though I prefer to mount mine to the windshield) because I cut the cord to the length I wanted. Thanks Again and Great Tutorial!

For those of us thinking along the same lines, what are the color codes on the V1 "telephone" cord after you cut of the plug on one end?

I used a multimeter to check for the voltages. I plugged the cut cable into my V1 cigarette lighter adapter then measured for voltage. In my case I had to use the Green wire for +12 volts and the Red wire for ground. The colors can change depending on which end you cut (the V1 cable is a crossover cable).

Could someone that's done this mod post a picture from the driver's seat at eye level? Thanks.
