I can't believe MB markets a 4,100lbs car with a 4-banger. If it were diesel or hybrid it would get my attention. A gas turbo 4 is sport compact territory imho. But they build all kinds of cars to suit all tastes. I'm sure it's pretty and sophisticated. Whoa, BMW builds the 528 with a 4 cylinder too

Lexus sells the GS with a 2.0T 4 cyl too.
Issue with MB right now is that the E is only available with the 4cyl in the US. There are no other engine options.

ok but the GS is 300 lbs lighter...I once thought a v6 was too small for a 3500 lbs car; 4100 with a 4 banger that retails + $50k is shameful. New Technology must weigh a lot. Maybe four r2d2's are in that thing
